CR grey Sunspel t-shirt

Can anyone tell me the length and width of the sleeves on the Sunspel grey crew neck T-shirt worn by Bond in the CR Madagascar/Miami airport/Venice scenes?

I bought a fitted light grey crew neck cotton t-shirt at Banana Republic which closely resembles the one on screen in color. The sleeves are not very tight on me like they are on Daniel Craig’s arms in the movie (though admittedly my biceps are probably nowhere near the diameter of Craig’s ;)), and I’d like to know if the sleeve lengths and widths on mine are comparable to the genuine Sunspel version.

When on the hanger, the sleeves on my version are 8” (20.5 cm) long from the top shoulder seam to the edge, and are 6.75” (17 cm) wide from edge-to-edge of the sleeve.

Not sure on the exact fit of the sunspel as i managed to shrink mine in the wash (dont do washing after a sunday afternoon in the pub). The closest replacement i managed to get though was a Gap stretch fit. At £8 it proved to be a bargain. Im not sure they do the light grey one anymore, just the darker one.

I've seen the stretch fits too in GAP stores. They don't offer a light grey in that version, but they do offer 2 light grey crew necks in stores and at www.gap.com:

GAP Perfect T #513774 in heather gray

    and

GAP Locker Tee #650076 in heather gray
    gp650076-02vliv01.jpg

I figured these two would be essentially the same cut as the Banana Republic version since GAP and BR are both from the same parent company Gap Inc. and might not compare in measurements to the Sunspel version:

    I don't think it's a stretch fit, here's a shot of it from BR's website: br273929-68vliv01.jpg

Thanks, though I just realized I probably should've posted my size before asking ;%.

My BR shirt is a medium. According to BR's size chart, the waist is 32"-33" and the chest is 38"-40" (chest is about the same as the Sunspel 007 blue Polo).

What size Sunspel grey shirt is yours?

Random point but has anyone else had problems with the white version of the Sunspel Grey crew neck T-shirt. I bought 2 of the grey and then over the last year have picked up the navy and the black. What I really wanted was a white one from this range and got one for my recent birthday. The material is really far removed from all my others, material is much less luxurious and more to the point, it is practically see - through !!!! Sunspel being a bit crap abount it and saying that the material is all the same but I strongly disagree. Reason I bought it up here was in case anyone had bought the V neck white version ( Venice boat scene after Vesper dies ) and had found the same problem.

Thanks, I gathered from the measurement comparisons that my BR shirt sleeves are actually slightly longer than the Sunspel version. I was hoping to find out it was the other way around, but the BR look-alike is a good replica nonetheless.

Are they no longer selling it? Several times I've tried to order the 007 Boxed set and it won't let me because they are out of the grey t-shirt. Is it just my size (medium), a temporary out of stock issue or
is that the end for this shirt?
  • Roland007Roland007 United KingdomPosts: 58MI6 Agent
No, I have recently tried to re-order a few bits and out of stock. Apparently they have got a whole new range launching shortly.

Uh oh, does that mean that the other Bond items (Polo and white V-neck) will be disappearing soon as well?

My blue 007 Sunspel Polo in medium is around a 40" chest. Sunspel's website says that their 007 polos and t-shirts in medium are 39" to 40" chest and the large are in a 41" to 42" chest.

I would encourage everyone to get the Target stretch fit T that Mantis recommends in "CR on a budget." They are very comfortable, form-fitting, and cheap.

Yep, I wear my Target ones more than I wear the Sunspel just because I tend to baby the Sunspel ones...if I get oil or ketchup on a Target one I don't freak out!

I've been looking for these for a while myself. I've checked all my local Targets for the Champion grey T-shirt Sunspel look-alike from "Casino Royale on a Budget," as well as Target.com but I have been unsuccessful in finding any.

Are these only available at certain regional Target stores or are they seasonal items?

I have a gray t-shirt by American Appearal and while they run about $7 per, they are quite confortable, heather gray color, and a great alternative to the Sunspel. On the Champion line of t-shirts from Target, I really favor their dri-fit style. At $10-13 each, they are quite cost effective, a good variety of styles and colors and extremely comfortable against ones skin. They also come in a compression style that is very DC-bondian. I would highly recommend you checking them out. Enjoy.
