I’ve enjoyed my fair share of twaddle and guilty pleasures, but even I’ve got my limits. Heroes, what the blue blazing f***?! Jesus-t**ty-f***ing-Christ, it has completely fallen apart at the seams, all it has been doing after its promising opening season is struggling to go from Point A to Point B in twenty episodes, then shuffle back to Point A again. It is f***ing painful: Sylar is now just an irritating turd that won’t f***ing flush, Ali Larter is the most redundant actress out of an increasingly redundant ensemble, Daddy Pettrelli from The Black Hole and Jackie Brown is just too cuddly looking to be taken seriously as a megalomaniac, and what the f*** was with the eclipse?! The hacks are clearly making pretentious, cryptic s**t up as they’re going along, what with the irritating and uncalled for changes in the aimless plot, and the characters contradicting themselves every third episodes. The central cast getting arrested by black-ops commandos was the last straw for me.
I’m not so sure about The Sarah Connor Chronicles, sometimes, but at least it is (overall) a damn sight less bloated, aimless, and fragmented than post-S1 Heroes, that’s for sure, only they’ve got to get somewhere with this story arc involving the flying Terminator drone (though I like the creepy town and factory owned by a Skynet front company). I'm still sticking with that.
I knew Demons was a dead duck as soon as Glenster opened his gob and you see the bland central character baring his manly man flesh, while fighting cheesy monsters who are supposed to scare the audience. I flushed that s**t within twenty minutes. Bonekickers, ugh, just ugh. Nothing about Merlin seemed genuinely terrible, but it just bored me s**tless after four or so episodes. I skipped on Robin Hood in its s**tty opening season, tolerated its second season, and decided to give it a wide berth again after I read about Friar Tuck. I’ve given Torchwood a wide berth as well, but it could pick up like TNG did.

the child drug addict story,
the bent copper story,
the 'eventually i have found my true love, ah $hit he died on our wedding day' story and
the scottish ex copper faking his own dealth by using someone else's dad's dead body for the cover up story,
i've finally given up even catching a glimpse. all the birds between 16-60 have to parade around in push up bra's (not as appealling as it sounds) and all the guys are built up chisel jawed ex models.
christ, with the arrival of this type of tripe, and the expulsion of every good programme that was on tv, whats next?
i'm sick of reality tv, 'talent' shows, minor celebrities living in a bush, and mindless 'dramas' where everyone either dies, cheats, takes drugs or ends up commiting some kind of crime.
and whats even better, is if you miss your dose of miserable depressive tripe, you can always catch it later, as its all repeated on (enter channel number here) plus 1. or dave.
sadly, for me, there are only 4 things that i like;

I never watched Hollyoaks or EE, simply because everyone has this "What's that supposed to mean?" type snarky dialogue that becomes wearing. I did like the first two series of Skins because it could create drama without constant snipey stuff between the characters. Gave up on Series 3 and the new cast after three episodes, it was all a bit charmless and like a kids' show, only with drugs thrown into the mix to make it edgy.
I am enjoying The Wire a bit. Though as is the case, the main drama is between the cops - office politics - as much as between the drug dealers.

X Factor has driven me insane. it was ruined beyond repair once Sharon left and even before that, it was pushing things! 'I'm doing it for me mom whos got cancer and me dad whos in a wheelchair and i got bullied at school and i cant get a job...' I COULDN'T CARE LESS! i dont want to know their life story, i want to hear them sing. but even when they do its some dreadful song. truly awful stuff. and then we come to the judges, who can't say one thing critical without the audience drowning out the end of their sentence. I'm sorry, but some of those performances are truly awful - how can anyone in that audience consider them to be otherwise? but its not just the audience who the judges are up against - its each other! they constantly squabble and bicker - its only telly!
Eastenders needs better writers and the X Factor has had its day. Britain's Got Talent for the same reasons.

The Trek Series on Virgin 1, (Except Enterprise) Poirot on ITV3, and on ITV 1, Primeval. It intreges me. Occasinally I have seen CSI of Fiver which is good, and if a Documentary catches my eye, BBC2 or Channel 4. Collectively any decent film on any of the channels, which of course includes 007.
Soaps, Reality shows, tacky cod-talent shows, countdown format "best of" shows and Daytime programmes all go in the same category. "Dated cheap crap." - No offence to people who are fans of the soaps (I was into Neighbours, Emerdale Farm, Corronation Street, and Brookside for sizeable chunks of time in the past) but they all tells the same stories again, and again and again, just with new actors? - Hollyoaks is the worst though, because it has become "ageist." Its offensive that a programme has such an unbalanced line up in the cast.

he started the show by saying that the celebrity audience had been arranged in order of talent, so down in the front row we have the cast of eastenders and corrie, and then way way up high in the gods, we have the cast of hollyoaks.
i laughed, the missus reached for the rolling pin.

It was a great show for the first few seasons, but now it seems that the plot is, eh, lost... {:)
I especially enjoyed the suspense in the first two series, but I thought it was downhill from there.
Season three seems to have been too much for a lot of people, but Season 4 was outstanding and Lost has kept the quality going with Season 5.
Yes, I've given up on it as well. I liked season 3 and 4 it's 5 that's done me in....I just can't take the twists and constant ?:) anymore

I gave up on corrie a long time ago, too boring, storylines and characters are just annoying!
I've also given up on Dragons Den, Little Britain (which i cant stand now), BBC3 entirely, Top Gear and lots more. It's all becoming too annoying for me for some reason.
Death threats are a bit extreme, but I do wish upon you a very nasty paper cut. :v
And it now seems Fox has given up on the show as well as several sites including IMDB and scifihobby.com are reporting that it has been cancelled.
I love that show. Although the first two Terminator films will always take centre stage for me, I do think that the TV show is fantastic. I was actually given the first season DVD for my birthday (along with Frasier and The Wire) and I would be devastated if The Sarah Connor Chronicles was in fact cancelled after only its second season, which is yet to come to Australia.
But then Tony, why am I surprised that you, a casual Terminator fan, would be less than satisfied with the TV show? :v

Like I said Dan, my comments were based on the first handful of episodes from last season. After a promising start they quickly degenerated into inane stories that seemed to focus more on John wanting to go out on the town than preventing or at least surviving a holocaust, and with pretty flimsy production values to boot. Maybe it improved after that but in those early shows it seemed to be getting further and further away from the orignal movie's premise and I'd already tuned out. I guess I wasn't alone as apparently a lot of people walked away back then.
As to the show's fate; Fox hasn't officially announced anything but most insiders seem to think it's dead. Read it and weep: Entertainment Weekly - Sarah Connor Chronicles Terminated
BTW, Terminator 2? Way overrated! ... runs for cover.
I will admitt that having only seen the first season, I can't comment on the show as a whole, but I really thought that the first season was a fine combination of high quality action, sci-fi, interesting narratives and pretty good performances, particularly from Lena Headley; who, whilst nowhere near as fantastic as the Great Lina Hamilton is still IMO stunning.

Although, actually, I don't know if you're right about ti being cancelled. It may very well be, but apparently Brian Austin Green, in an interview, denies that it's being cancelled. So, who knows. I hope it's not being cancelled, but if it is, I'm not all that shocked..

Recyled characters and convulted scenarios mixed with a Young & The Restless tone turned me sour on this show fast.

This season has been awful. I'd be surprised if it gets a fourth season. I nearly jumped out of the window the other night, when Hiro and Ando were baby faces a t Matt's kid.
Actual quality can sometimes be overrated and while The Wire is certainly not a bad show in itself, the general tone was not to my taste and the bordering on hysterical deityfication of the show online was bound to lead me to disappointment and alienation (I guess Farscape and FireFly especially would have that effect).
While I liked the acting and some of the characters, the back to back airing late at night helped to make it a chore for me to sit through for me, with the ignorant gang banger and crooked police department subcultures being depicted in The Wire depressing me rather than entertaining me.
There was a time that if that bit of info had slipped out before I had seen the ep would've made me go nuts. Not so much now...
I too would be shocked if this show got another season but then again I wouldn't. Isn't it true networks cancel programs of genius and usually keep the garbage?

BSG was a fantastic show---and in my opinion you should stick with it. I'm certainly glad I did. I own the entire series on DVD, except for season 4.5, and I'll have it soon. Sci-Fi is rarely this smart and riveting on TV.
