The 501's are now a straighter/slimmer fit that previous.
You could go for the white 501's and get them tapered.
I managed to find a pair of cream 504's which are the green label organic cotton, they're a very good alternative to the 306's if you can locate a pair I'd recommend them.
I bought the white 501s one size larger than normal to try to get a fit closer to the sta-prest (in the upper portion of the jeans at least), and I think it's probably as close as you can get. I have the tidal blue 501s in my normal size, and the white ones aren't nearly as tight, but I don't feel like I'm swimming in them either.

If you guys are looking for a jacket somewhat similar to the black one DC wears in QOS, look at the dickies unlined eisenhower jacket. It looks pretty close to me.
I'm not sure if they sell the jacket in the UK, but I'm positive you could find someone that will ship it there. It's not an uncommon piece of clothing and it's relatively cheap.

Priced at £39.99 and they're a jeans shaped fit.
It's a bit disheartening because I actually happen to like the style, and not because of the bond movies.
Levis makes the 501 in white, and they supposedly updated their fit, but I'm doubting it's going to fit like the sta prest.

Oh, and does anyone know the leg opening measurement on the Sta Prest? That might help when getting 501s tailored.

That's a bargain. What jacket are you going to finish it all off with?
Also I have a navy Lyle & Scott jacket which has button cuffs, they're a great jacked as long as you don't mind the eagle logo on the chest.
I quite like it myself.
