I have an idea, we can ask with a petition to BARACUTA to change the lining of the G4 in blue , change the back and maybe they will do it because i prefer a real baracuta jacket than a replica, or the original because it's too expansive. what do you think guys ?

You could e-mail Baracuta and tell them of the interest of people on this site and enquire if it would be possible.

Then I presume they may wish to know how many people want to order a jacket.

You could count me in for a Barracuta as well if it could be make with a plain navy lining.

I've made an enquiry with Baracuta to have a blue lining so we'll see how it's received.

I'd be in for this run. Can we also add the correct pockets and zipper pulls to the list of requests as well?

    Kind regards,
    Craig

it's a really good idea, do you how to make a page to include the pictures ?

IMO too much custom work might be too much to ask of Barracuta. Anyone who wants the TF jacket would probably be better served to order the replica from Indy. Plus, if I remember correctly from some other discussion on ajb, the TF jacket had the same style pockets, just tucked in. Just my 2 cents tho.

Ehem, let me put my foot in my mouth for a moment. 007 and a Half mentioned the umbrella style rear venting on the back of the standard Barracuta jacket. It would be nice to have this customized to remove the vent and have a plain back.

I examined the retail versions of the Tom Ford jacket in Harrods last week (only in dark brown, or cream unfortunately - no navy).

They definitely do not have flaps on the pockets, but have the little loop closure on jetted pockets like Indy's copy. You can see that the loop has been tucked inside the pocket in the screen grap above.

The cotton jacket material is quite similar in feel to the Y3 and the zipper tabs are rubbery in feel/material, rather than leather and a lot smaller than the ones on Indy's.

i know this is complicated to have a custom jacket from Baracuta, but we have nothing to lose , and i think if we are a lot of people to ask like Tony Nowak for the Indiana Jones jacket from the fourth movie, we can have half of we ask, let's try because i prefer an original, and the Magnoli version is expansive, not the baracuta.

The sleeves are wrong also. The Baracuta has raglan sleeves rather than the TF set-in sleeve.

Also different is the number of buttons on the collar - two on the Baracuta, but only one on the TF.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Baracuta’s G10 Slimfit Jersey, G10 Slimfit Mod and G10 Slimfit Sport Harringtons all have set sleeves. The back designs and overall fit of said jackets also look much closer to the TF jacket than Baracuta’s current G4 offering. Put the specs together, tweak them a bit and you have a very cool tribute jacket, while not necessarily a 100% film jacket copy. Personally I'd take the G10 Slimfit Jersey in Navy as a base pattern, just my two pennies...

It would not be all that complicated for Baracuta (or their manufacturers?) to do what is being suggested here and it might be wise to get some specs together and present them to Baracuta in one go, rather than a steady trickle of comments on the innacuracies of their Bond G4.

They might not be resistant to a limited run for forumites, one that does not compete with or alter their regular offerings too much. I was going to ask them to make me a custom jacket along these lines but here it is being discussed; it could be quite doable as it probably would be worth their while.

    Cheers -{

I also have to agree with cherokee12. We should stick to specs that Baracuta currently offers. They are not a custom shop like Magnoli and therefor will probably be resistant to a request for a heavily modified jacket. Plus its a Baracuta, not a TF, not a reproduction of the movie jacket and cool in its own right. The only problem with the G10 is that the waist and cuffs appear to be elastic. What we really need is a combo of the G4 and the G10. I would propose these specs:

G4 Slimfit basic patern w/ exception of G10-style back

Navy teflon protected 100% cotton outer shell

Navy cotton or silk lining (we are probably not going to want fraser regardless of the color, thinking along lines of Y-3 jacket here)

Has anyone already suggested this jacket from Burberry (fetures just one button as in the TF)

I love burberry but I don't think the button hole comes out far enough to give it the same barricuda look.

DBS has some pictures of the G4 in navy from this post which gives a better idea of how the jacket looks than Barracuta's website:

I'm sorry but I guess I don't understand all of the time and effort put into this thread. By the time Baracuta makes changes to its standard model and produces a limited run, the cost of the jacket has got to be close, if not exceed, the price of the Magnoli replica. Consider the price of the limited production Madagascar shirt (see the other forum). The Magnoli jacket is an almost exact replica and is of excellent quality and fabrication. I love mine and well worth the price, especially considering that a Tom Ford would probably cost 5 times a much!

This jacket is becoming a bore to me i seem to see it so much on this forum, its a nice jacket yes,but we already scoped out atleast 5 great alternatives, not to mention magnoli's exact replica.

FYI, I just watched the new Harry Potter film, "The Half-Blood Prince," and Harry himself sports a Baracuta G4 Slim Fit in several scenes. It looked to be the Navy Blue color, too. But it had the plaid liner removed.
