Try one without glasses! Your hair and features are quite Craig-ian, I agree :)

That jacket looks great on you - wear it often!

Can you guys who have purchased from Magnoli give me some input as to how you went about giving your measurements?

Depending on the item, do you give him your EXACT measurements via a tailor, or do you measure a similar garment that fits well and just give him those?

Thanks for any info you might have!

I ordered the Royale leather jacket (the brown Armani one) from Magnoli previously, and basically you just take measurements off a good fitting jacket you have and make adjustments where necessary (ex. I wanted my jacket to fall just above the beltline, similar to the movie jacket, so I shaved a few inches off the length).

Due to the medium weight of the cotton twill fabric (which is excellent), I'd recommend being very slightly generous by maybe a half inch per measurement, keeping in mind a good tailor can make simple adjustments if necessary. Mine is pretty form-fitting, but I did consider I might wear something more underneath than just a Sunspel polo during winter (a big two months here!). The bottom width did come in a little large and my tailor had no trouble altering by 1 1/2 inches. This obviously adds to the cost but a basically custom jacket for $450 all-in I felt was worth it. I also had the sleeve openings a little larger than DC's to accomodate larger watches such as the Planet Ocean; in photos from QOS you'll see the sleeve bumping up to the Omega Seamaster. Depends on the look you want. I'm having a Royale made now and did tighten up and shorten the measurements slightly to achieve the look from the film. And yes, I wear it as much as I can and it's not about getting my money's worth; it's just a very cool jacket as I've been told now by many. Incidentally guys, the haircut dates from 1999, so I'd like to think that DC was in town before CR, saw me on the street and said to himself "that's it, that's the cut!" ;) Hope this helps and don't hesitate to pm me for any other assistance.

  • Hi All - Newbie to the forum and I thought I'd better register so I could take part now and again.

Could anybody tell me what sort of weight the Magnoli jacket is please? It looks fantastic in the photos as modelled by Urhash, but I don't really want to invest if it is overly heavy - just not comfortable in thick jackets. I have a vintage Izod Lacoste Harrington at home - anyone know if this is the same sort of weight? Thanks

That's something I've been wondering too, is it a well-made replica which is soft fabric and would be a comfortable everyday jacket to wear, or is it a stiff or uncomfortable fabric which would only serve well as a prop or worn at a Bond-themed masquerade party?

    I'm not the model, that's shaken66. :)

Btw, NONE of the stuff I've gotten from Magnoli would I classify as "props". They are real, wearable, durable, high quality items.

I'm on the coast in Southern California, am always warm, and can wear the jacket probably nine months out of the year. In San Francisco or Great Britain, probably all year long! I have Armani, Loro Piana, and Zegna jackets and Magnoli's is right there in terms of quality. It has a terrific dark blue satin lining so with the medium cotton twill outer, not too heavy or too light.

  • Thanks guys. Shaken66 - if you can wear the jacket 9 months out of 12 in California, then it doesn't sound like I would have a problem in Edinburgh :))

Incidentally my new boss has only been in town about a month and bumped right into Sean Connery the other week - and he's not even a Bond fan! Where's the justice there???? :s

I am wondering what is the original material for the Tom Ford coat?

Anyone have an original that could share?

I am asking because I have gotten an offer to create this jacket but using suede leather in dark blue. I have an excellant price point but not sure if that is the correct material.

    Any ideas? Comments?

    Thanks

It is cotton with a little silk in it.
