Hi everyone, I am trying to track down a photo and possibly some information .. in the book above .. I remember a friend of mines had it years ago when i was much much younger.. I didnt think the book was that great so I didn't buy.... but there was a picture in the back of it of a Golden Gun .. Home made model by the looks of it.. it was a bit odd looking. it had an S on the handle and a strange shape to the handle if I remember rightly .. it was nice .. in parts it looked like an SD Gun .. but it didnt.. the photo was black and white... in a caption below the photo .. it read .. ''A CIGARETTE CASE , LIGHTER PEN and CUFF LINK and you too can make a Golden Gun '' or something like that .. also if anyone knows anything about the item in the picture.. if you know the picture I am reffering to .. also if anyone could scan the picture.. to see it again that would be most appreciated...

also just checked out the KESWICK Bond museums new website .. very nice .. slick looking... however... very anoyed that it states the Golden Gun in the museum is the original used in the film by Christopher Lee.. very disapointed indeed.... the fact that the museum displays the colibri Prototype ... 2 lighters stuck together gun .. and none of these made it onto the set ... the BULLSH** story is that it was on set and it fell apart in Lee's hand .. nonsense..... it never made it onto the film set.. Peter Lamont told me ... he and Cubby went to colibri with Lamonts Balsa wood model .. colibri made a bad and nasty looking chunk of brass. that Cubby refused to pay for... 2 lighters stuck together design.. so Lamont took his Balsa wood model to Rose in London .. a silversmith who made the 3 - 4 film guns .. and they were used.. the Colibr prototype found its way into Cubby's office after teh film was made.. that much is true.... Colibri made a few improved ( 2 lighters stuck together guns ) for promotion and advertisemnt.. however none of them were ever used on the film or handled by any actor.. FINAL

Sorry it is not a perfect picture. Under it is the details about the gun, then it goes on about the Ski pole in TSWLM.

Cheers Charlie boy.... you are a great help....

much appreciated... thats the one... looking at it now .. I am sure its a very early SD Studios Gun.... but the S on the handle has been added after purchase.. by the owner.. a jewller has engraved it possibly...

the chewed fingers... thats all the last minute bidding on Bond collectables on eBay :)) nerve racking stuff.

Peter Lamont tells one story, Bert Luxford tells another:

Well, a lighter company called Colibri made the actual golden gun, which came together by assembling a cigarette case, lighter, cufflink and pen. It was gorgeous, and was all diamond cut. But someone made the mistake of giving it to an actor – I don’t know who, or how – to play around with and it was dropped, smashing into tiny pieces.
A frantic art director came running into my workshop and said “they’ve busted the gun!” and he asked me if I could make another one. I asked how long, and he said “You’ve got a little more than tomorrow.” I said I’d need a little more than two weeks at least.
I got together with a colleague of mine, Curly Currs, who was a gun-smith, and we set about making another one, out of more durable brass….

As regards the website, I understand that the GG text was written by someone other than Peter Nelson, he knows about the error and is currently working on a re-write, you can calm down now Mick.

    Nice poster find... !

Hi there Mark.... please dont feel .. I was mad in anyway ... i know myself whats what .. and thats enough for me .. ;) its nothing new tho.. Museum's and attractions claiming.. articles to be something they are not ... happens all the time througout the world.. in film and TV exhibits and public displays and collections.... but Fair enough if there is a mistake on the website ...... granted and appreciated...

But your point put up against mines.. of what bert luxford says.. the gun that was shattered etc broken on set .. was still not the Colibri Lighter ''2 pieces stuck together'' guns .. that was one of the silver ones made by rose.. the silversmith in London..... Bert Luxford has .. i think gotten one of the lovely diamond cut guns etc mixed up with the prototype Colibri guns.....

when it comes to it.. Colibri took the credit for the gun in the film although they never made any of the actual film guns... but that was becuse they paid for a product tie in, with the film.

I am currently working on an article... which will go in depth into all the colibri and original .. and knocked up in house guns.. and replicas etc .. explaining all.... from the research .. it is going to form a big part of my website devoted to the Golden Gun...
