Sweden is a good choice, not too many films have used it as a location before. To answer your question, Yes in the Casino Royale novel Bond's second kill was in Stockholm, his first was in New York city.

To be (un)fair, Stockholm was more politically interesting during WWII and the cold war.
I haven't been there myself, but Stocholm is arcitectually more interesting than Oslo. When it comes to natural beauty, Norway is leaps and bounds better than the rest av Scandinavia.
(Modesty is a traditional norwegian trait, but I try to not be so provintial in my thinking .. :v)
I have absolutely nothing against swedish women, they are just as beautiful as the norwegian ones. Perhaps we should go for a swedish/norwegian actress - Maria Bonnevie?

I agree that Norway would make for some stunning scenery, both in winter and summer. A boat chase on a Fjord with the mirror-like surface and cliffs on either side would look brilliant. The colourful toy-like houses on the water's edge would also look interesting in panning/overhead shots. Base jumping from a high cliff would also look good for a PTS.
Britain also has huge interests in North Sea gas there, getting most of what we use processed and piped over on the sea bed. Maybe Quantum can pull another utilities scam again - but let's hope it would be a more interesting plot than that...

    Hear, hear.

As jumping-off points go, this one ("the Culprit") might work nicely for Bond:

And like I said, Sweden is very nice and Stockholm is a beautiful city, but you don't find anything like that in Sweden.

That cliff is just plain nasty. Perhaps Bond could ride a motorbike off it.

I know, it's getting harder and harder to come up with something original. You've got to admit, it is a stunning piece of scenery though. But he couldn't climb it, that would be FYEO...

I think there should be a Bond film, featuring the long-missing Hannes Oberhauser as an element, where actual mountain climbing is an integral part of the story, as in The Eiger Sanction...that would mean much more than what happened in Act 3 of FYEO...

Yes, agreed. Also, Stockholm is wonderfully atmospheric and melancoly in the winter months. Not sure if Craig's Nordic looks would be a plus or a minus here, and too long a time in Scandi could have a, er, low-key effect on the film. I'm thinking of Billion Dollar Brain here.

Finding new action scenes is hard. I also agree that a good climbing scene could be good. What about ice climbing?

Perhaps in a ice cave? I don't think anyone has seen that on film before.

And a fight wearing that equipment could be cool (and violent).

Texas! He could fight racism, sexism and religious intolerance, and that way we would get a reaaaaaallllly loooooooong movie! :)

Or, he could stick to the easy stuff of saving the world, and that would be good to see in China. Its a hot place right now, what with their being in the driving seat of the world economy. Tied back to the major financial centres of the world?

Six gun, stetson and hotted-up Dodge Ram with tyre slashers. I'll admit, it's original!

Maybe an ice climb inside a glasier...

I've been thinking the same thing. There are caves made by rivers under glasiers and of course deep cracks in the ice. Fights on cracking ice and snowmobile chases hasn't been done properly either.

Pierce Brosnans back yard if thats what it takes to bring him back as Bond. Hey if they did it with Connery then why not Brosnan!

Pierce Brosnans back yard if thats what it takes to bring him back as Bond. Hey if they did it with Connery then why not Brosnan!

    YOLT premiere was June 1967
    OHMSS premiere was Dec. 1969
    DAF premiere was Dec. 1971

so, it was 3 1/2 years after Sean said goodbye.

    DAD premiere was November 2002
so, it's almost 7 years after Pierce's farewell.

Additionally DC has a contract for at least one more (I think, it's more 2) and bringing Pierce back would not correspond with the entire reboot idea.

Another factor may be, that Pierce may be not interested to play 007 anymore, he was reacting a bit grim after he lost the job and he was able to build up a profile, which is not only 007 recently.

Thats some fair points my friend but surely you would love like me to see Pierce don that tux one more time and give us fans one last treat?

Wasn't Bond in Albania in FYEO?

Personally, I'd like to get away from this central European bias recently (which has about as much to do with cheap studios there than any particular interest).

I'd like to see France or Spain included. South Africa or Australia too, but I would like a proper rainforest location, something away from civilisation. Craig's Bond so far has been rather too urban for my liking.

Boliva maybe? It has a road around some mountains that is very high up and very narrow and it doesn't have a rail so maybe a fight or chase (not motorbikes something orginal)

    What about Mongolia or Tibet?

With its exoticism, decadence, and now major financial troubles, Dubai would make a splendid Bond locale.

Ironically, my guess is that Eon these days treat certain locations as if they were dealing with product placement (why Miami in CR for instance, why the One and Only Ocean Club?).

If Dubai really is in such financial peril, the downpayment for some Bond coverage may not be such a good idea (or maybe it would to fight the financial glums)

I think Bond has been in a chase in every moving object possible, automobiles, motorbikes, airplanes, snowmobiles, tank, helicopter, bobsled, boat, powered skuba gear, trains, hovercraft, spacecraft, semi tractor trailers, etc. I am sure I am forgetting something, but not sure they come up with something "original" for a chase.

As for locations, I always think they should try to use current hot spots as locations, so they can make the film current. So I would go with the Middle East, although that is a perennial hot spot. If we just want something new, I say Australia.
  • PredatorPredator Posts: 790Chief of Staff
Barry, you are forgetting "foot" (which now appear to be a theme of the Craig Bonds, so I'm sure they won't disappoint).

    What I would like:

PTS in South Africa (building on attention garnered during the 2010 World Cup)

    New York
    Machu Picchu
    Spain (Barcelona would be great)

    Places I'd like to see

    Australia
    Dubai
    Morocco
    Barcelona/Madrid

    Yesss!!!!

& remember, Australia has great scuba diving, one of Bond's long suits. How's the gambling there? Bond needs to gamble.

Edit: Now that Dubai has the world's tallest building, I vote that the opening sequence be near the top of it and that either Bond or an evil henchmen get hurled off without a parachute. Bond, of course, would survive :007); if it's a evil henchman who gets hurled off, then survival is probably not in the cards. :#

    How about the Philippines?

They have great beaches and jungles and is one place that is rarely featured in movies. Also I was thinking how neat it would be to have Bond fight a bad guy using Escrima, the native martial art which consists of stick, knife and hand to hand fighting.

I want some skiing chases, although i cant picture craig skiing for some reason.

    perhaps scenes in:
    switzerland,
the seychelle islands, perhaps near the beggining of the movie: picture this...

    M:were's 007?

moneypenny: still on vacation... the seychelles... i'm afraid.

[scene changes to the ocean looking up from the bottom of the sea to see bond swimming with a spear gun, a giant sting ray floats over the screen] :007)

& so on and so forth.

    i'd also like newyork,

    the south of france,

and maybe a PTS in russia [i have another post explaining exactly what i want to happen] as we ended off with bond in Russia.
