KGB-files in 2009?

When Bond calls back to MI6 HQ to find out who Dominic Greene is. Tanner scans some computer files, and if I'm not mistaken he says "Scanning KGB files". Should think the old KGB-files from way back in 1991 are a bit outdated and possibly not even on computer! Belarus stil has KGB, but perhaps he ment FSB or SVR?

What's in a name? Some call it FSB (Bureau) and some call it FSD (Directorate) but it's still the KGB behind the door. MI6 know that.

"Governments come and go, the lies stay the same"
Yes, I know. But I don't buy that they put that line in because they wanted to show that MI6 regards SVR/FSB and KGB to be just "same ****, new wrapping." I think it's just the scriptwriters being sloppy.

Could be....but I think it's more likely that the general cinema-going public know whom the KGB is/was....most probably wouldn't know whom the FSB or FSD or SVR would be.

Could be .... but then it would be a better solution to have Tanner say: "Scanning russian secret service files."

That would have been a better solution. It is interesting to note that most cinema goers would know KGB but would not know FSB/FSD.
