To Bond or not to Bond

I wonder if any better informed members could give me the difinitive answer to this question, from reading articles and being told by friends that these are true facts.
Was Eric Bana offered Bond and turned it down, and was Hugh Jackman chosen but proved to be too expensive.
I've been ponting out to people that almost ever actor around was more than likley been considered for the role but that dosen't mean that they had the part in the bag.

    I don't think anyone [here] knows. EON always maintained it was only ever Daniel Craig they were after. That said, the Haggis script implied it was written for a guy in his late 20s and Haggis confirmed this weeks before. None of the actors you mention, Craig included, match that description. Jackman was said to be too 'effete' and Bana not handsome enough, but that's just hearsay.
