Clothes shopping

So I was in town yesterday with my wife, and we were looking at some clothes, when suddenly she turns to me and sais:

"Honey, why don't you try and get yourself a pair of white jeans for this summer. You know, like he wears?"

Stunned with disbelief, I turn to her and ask:

"Like who wears?"

To wich she replies:

"You know, James Bond. When he's on that motorcycle. Those would look good on you..."

I love my wife! :x

My wife doesn't usually like my fascination with the clothes of the 30's and 40's but she always encourages me to buy DC Bond stuff...that or Michael Westen from Burn Notice.

My wife has noticed a change in my wardrobe likes. Gone are the ten dollar pants and shirts. I now shop by the mantra "WWBW" or, what would Bond wear.....
That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six.

Wearing white jeans in the UK would get you labelled as a certain something.

Looked great on DC, but I'd never wear them!

I think it depends on if they suit you or not.

I'm waiting for warmer weather before I wear mine.

So are you inferring most people on this forum are gay because they like a particular style of clothing?

    (Ignoring the steriotypical comments)

I wish I wasn't single. - I know how to dress, I just don't have a woman in my life to appreciate it! :'(

White jeans don't appeal to me. They look too much like cricket whites! - Only Mr Craig and The Mantis seem to pull off that look, by having the designer label Bond vibe. - I'll stick to combat trousers reminicent of CR!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Awsome....glad I pull them off cuz I am wearing them today...swear!

I have to admit I am not overly keen on white jeans and for that reason (even though Bond wore them) there won't be any in my wardrobe anytime soon.

However I do like a pair of sand / beige jeans / trousers like Craig wore in CR - and they look great with a plain navy polo. I think you can wear this combination without looking like you are trying to dress like Bond even though you actually are! :))

    Great summer look.

I picked up a pair last summer after the first Haiti pics showed up. Polo slim boot cut in a VERY light beige, nearly white. My wife loves them and I've gotten many compliments otherwise.

Oddly enough, the people who are shouting that certain things are only done by gay men (like wearing white jeans, personal hygene or taking regular showers) are usually the ones who are single and wonder why thay can never get a date... 8-)

My wife is a lot more indulgent about me dressing like Bond than, for instance, Indiana Jones.

She would tolerate the leather jacket, but not the hat. :v

I believe this is also due to the fact that Bond (DC at least) is basically a well dressed person of this age. She is fed up of me dressing like it's the 1930's.

The good thing is that you can dress like Bond, without 'dressing up'. WWBW, indeed.

Haven't got the jeans yet, but Simon is hooking me up with a pair. Hopefully they'll be here for the warmer weather. :)

With all due respect guys, why is it us Brits have this attitude towards certain pieces of clothing? White jeans for instance? I have a half Italian financee and she just loves my white jeans. When I told her most English guys would consider them slightly "iffeminate" she was aghast and asked why? Seems they are very popular in Milan and I hate to say it but who has the most widely accepted reputation for style? B-) I'll be wearing my white jeans with pride this summer, in fact I often wear them in winter too, accompanied of course by my beautiful lady.

As I said, all of this is said with complete respect and not meant to offend anyone or dismiss their opinion.

Men's Health Magazine had a list recently entitled "14 things you'll outlive". Number 13 on the list was:

"Manscaping" and "metrosexual." Men care about how they look. And once the world gets over the shock-the schock!-these labels will have lost their purpose.

Well, having said that the Mamorial Day weekend is upon us in the USA. The official start of summer. Time for me to shave the back and throw those white jeans on.
    :))

I've said this before and I'll say this again. James Bond movies are like garanimals for men. If you see JB wearing something you know the fashion police won't come knocking if you try to go for the same look.

I always live by the rule that's it's ok to follow someone else's style as long as it suits you also.

No point wearing something if you're not confident in it, no matter what Bond wears I would always consider how it looks on me before purchasing.

That's the great thing about the ties I suppose, although I'm yet to order as I've no need for a tie in my job and have about 20 ties already :s

The other thing I go by, accept WWJBW, is basically WWMWS, orwhat would my wife say.

Because I know that if she doesn't like it, I'm going to get that look and the comment that she will not go out with me wearing that... 8-)
Well, having said that the Labor Day weekend is upon us in the USA. The official start of summer. Time for me to shave the back and throw those white jeans on.
    :))

Now what was that thing I heard about not wearing white after labour day?

That's Memorial Day guys. Labor day is at the end of summer. You're gonna be wearing white jeans all through winter. :p

Just so everyone knows, the rule against wearing white after labor day doesn't exist anymore. You CAN, in fact, wear white jeans in winter. I did.

Yikes! I can't believe I didn't catch my error before submitting. Of course this weekend is Memorial Day. I was thinking white after Memorial Day up to Labor Day and I guess my dyslexia took over and I wound up submitting Labor Day.

Here's the funniest headline I ever saw in a movie. It was in one of the Naked Gun movies with Leslie Nielsen: "DYSLEXIA CURE FOR FOUND."

I cannot ever wear white jeans because unfortunately they only stay white for minutes. Much prefer to go with light beige or brown.

Somewhat off-topic, but considering the above post I thought I'd share it with you.

This is a joke that was told by the Dutch resistance in World War Two.

"Napoleon wore a red vest, so that if he would ever get shot, his soldiers would not see him bleed.

    Hitler wears brown pants."
