I'm extremely disappointed that neither YOLT or LALD made the top 10. :(

I agree. Can't we consider TSWLM as eliminated as well then?

    But it isn't eliminated. ?:)

EDIT: You may be having a dig at TSWLM. Well, let me just say that IMO TSWLM remains the greatest non-Connery Bond film of all time, and the fifth greatest Bond film of all time, behind only the first four. I think it's vastly superior to YOLT.

Not in originality that's for sure, or any other way!

No, I think it is. First of all, I think its debt to YOLT is overrated anyway (truth is, most Bond films can be traced back to one another) but I do think that TSWLM is a vastly superior film. Its screenplay, plot, performances, the action/chase sequences, the villains, the henchmen, the PTS, its music, set design and most other other things are IMO better in TSWLM than in YOLT.

No, I think it is. First of all, I think its debt to YOLT is overrated anyway (truth is, most Bond films can be traced back to one another)

Allright, I will grant you that most Bond films can be traced back to one another. But TSWLM is YOLT in the same way that NSNA is Thunderball. Same story, but with an older Bond.
but I do think that TSWLM is a vastly superior film.

    I absolutely disagree with you.
Its screenplay, plot, performances, the action/chase sequences, the villains, the henchmen, the PTS, its music, set design and most other other things are IMO better in TSWLM than in YOLT.

The jump from the Asgard is spectacular.

But it's down hill all the way from there.

Stromberg is a desperate attempt at Blofeld, and only isn't Blofeld because of contractual problems.

The henchmen are laughable. I know some people like Jaws. I personally don't, but I'll let that one go. Sandor is a joke. And Naomi is eye candy, but no more than that.

The gorgeous Egyptian locations are completely wasted. The scene with Bond's old friend in the tent is not only superfluous but insulting to Arabs, women and Maurice Jarre.

The Lotus Esprit submarine I still blaim for that whole Transformers fiasco during the eighties.

And why does the Liparus suddenly explode?

All in all, TSWLM is the kind of movie that appeals to most people as a child. But then you grow up.

    Usually.

I don't agree with that at all. TSWLM has a similar story to YOLT but its similarities are not as distinct as you make it out to be. It's like LTK and QOS; both have similar stories, yet are not identical. The same with YOLT and TSWLM.
but I do think that TSWLM is a vastly superior film.

Entirely your choice, but not surprising since I completely disagree with most of what you say here. ;)
Stromberg is a desperate attempt at Blofeld, and only isn't Blofeld because of contractual problems.
Don't agree at all. The only similarities between Stromberg and Blofeld is that both are wealthy men with unusual lairs. But one could say that about all Bond villains. Dr No, for example, is not all that different to Blofeld. I love Stromberg; IMO he's one of the greatest Bond villains of all time.
The henchmen are laughable. I know some people like Jaws. I personally don't, but I'll let that one go. Sandor is a joke. And Naomi is eye candy, but no more than that.
I don't agree at all. The henchmen are vastly superior to those in YOLT. Jaws is a classic henchman, Sandor does his job and Naomi also does her job exceedingly well. The only henchman from YOLT that I like was Helga Brandt, and that's purely for her looks.
The gorgeous Egyptian locations are completely wasted.
I completely disagree. The locations added mood and feeling. I don't think they were wasted at all.
The scene with Bond's old friend in the tent is not only superfluous but insulting to Arabs, women and Maurice Jarre.
I think that Maurice Jarre would love TSWLM. As for Arabs and women, I don't think they would be insulted at all. Women are more likely to be insulted by the Connery films. It's one thing to criticise TSWLM but to accuse it of being sexist yet not have a problem with YOLT is ridiculous! YOLT was one of the most sexist of all Bonds. As for Arabs, I don't see anything in it which would insult them. Some 90's films like True Lies are far more insulting than TSWLM ever was.
The Lotus Esprit submarine I still blaim for that whole Transformers fiasco during the eighties.
Purely a matter of tase; I love it. :D
All in all, TSWLM is the kind of movie that appeals to most people as a child. But then you grow up.

You probably shouldn't generalise what you think about a film to its fans and critics. Afterall, one could say the exact same thing about GF. Personally, I consider TSWLM to be one of the very best Bond films, as well as the last truly great Bond film and the last truly great film which happens to be a Bond film. So whatever that says about me as a fan of Bond in particular and cinema in general, I'll leave for others to decide. ;)

    Sorry that this is off-topic.
