Shawl Cardigan

Don't know if this has been asked before but with all the wonderful items that Indy has been making lately, has anyone given any thought to ask if he could make the QOS black shawl cardigan? I've purchased all the Bond ties and they are "spot on" from the originals. The quality is excellent. I'm confident if the sweater was offered, many of us would purchase those too. Anyway, just a thought. Cheers.

$150 is a little pricey, but a piece like that could be considered an investment piece. I may pick one up in the future. Might I ask, what is the estimated production time for a piece from Magnoli? I won't be purchasing at the moment, but I'd like to make sure I have one by the fall months here in the states.

Indy said he is waiting for a proper photo shoot to add it to his site.

But I think it looks great and I'm certainly thinking of getting it.

Nice. Indy does good Bond. I have one being made for me by a family member.

Edit: Collar seems a bit uneven, but I'm sure that will be fixed.

It looks like it is a pretty heavy material. The Tom Ford original is supposed to be light weight right? I don't recall that the origninal had pockets either. Any comments?
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Yeah, the original had pockets making the Zara one inaccurate...bleh! I own the Zara and I love it, even changed the buttons out then I saw the Bluray and the pockets....as I said, bleh!

Well, I ordered one from Magnoli.

Have some of his other stuff as well, and that's all excellent. So I have great confidence in this one.

Anyone want photos of my Tom Ford original - complete with pockets, Dave ;) - PM me and I'll email a couple over.

Sadly, I'm not tech enough to upload to here.

    Magnoli's copy looks good, though.

Hello everyone. I'm new here, but a big bond fan so i was happy to find this forum :) I have been peeping here for some time now, but thought it was time to join.

Regarding the cardigan. As almost everyone in here i have also been looking out for a decent one looking like the TF. I also found that the material at the one from magnoli looked a bit too heavy, so i asked Indy about this, and he told me that: "The thickness is very similar to the Ford original". It seems like he knows what he's talking about, so i think i will be ordering one too..

have anyone of you ordered and heard when you will get it? Please upload pictures when you do :D

    Hi and welcome.

I have ordered it from Indy now, but haven't heard from him about it yet.

This is quite unusual, as normally Indy immediately responds to both questions and orders. Especially when you have included payment.

Maybe this is because of the rush caused by everybody suddely wanting this? :D

Trust me, the Tom Ford is a fairly heavy weight. In warmer climes probably best for 4-6 months out of the year.

I ordered mine today as well. I would guess it will be about a month before I receive it because I think Indy is very busy. I too believe the Tom Ford cardigan is fairly heavy weight, you can see Craig wearing it on the yacht close to the end of Casino Royale.
I would ask you if you could remain emotionally detached. But I don't think that's your problem is it Bond?

    No

Tom Ford clothes were not used in CR.

    Probably Ted Baker Cardigan.

Yes you are right, I just noticed that watching CR. The bottom of the sweater has two buttons close together unlike Tom Ford's. :s

Mantis is wearing the Tom Ford cardigan at the east coast prop show. It truly seems to have no pockets. I'm going to ask Indy to make mine without pockets. I would never carry anything in them and they give a cardigan too much of the old man look anyway.

Thank you Mantis, I will leave it the same then.

OK, now that Mantis has reported on another thread that the patterns on the actual Tom Ford cardigan are very different Magnoli's replica, and that the confirmed presence of pockets knocks out the popular Zara and M&S cardi's, where are we now? Are there any accurate alternatives out there or do we have to fork over our next morgage payment for the TF original? X-(

Perhaps you should ask the Mantis for some good - ideally hi-res - close up pictures of the Ford cardy he has?

That way, at least everyone's concerns will be put to bed once and for all...

And surely, no one thought a Zara, M & S, or whoever cardy, with or without pockets would replicate Tom Ford?

Of course not. I'll clarify... is there an accurate budget alternative out there?

    Ypchief,

I wasn't suggesting either yourself or anyone else who'd chosen to buy a cardy, whether on the recommendation of posters here, or from their own research, expected the alternatives to replicate Ford.

I was really suggesting that for piece of mind - as well as accuracy - Dave Z could post photos showing the differences he was alluding to. At least that way, Magnoli will have a better chance of getting his Mark II version to the Mantis' specs:)
