Perhaps you should ask the Mantis for some good - ideally hi-res - close up pictures of the Ford cardy he has?
That way, at least everyone's concerns will be put to bed once and for all...
And surely, no one thought a Zara, M & S, or whoever cardy, with or without pockets would replicate Tom Ford?
Of course not. I'll clarify... is there an accurate budget alternative out there?
Ypchief,
I wasn't suggesting either yourself or anyone else who'd chosen to buy a cardy, whether on the recommendation of posters here, or from their own research, expected the alternatives to replicate Ford.
I was really suggesting that for piece of mind - as well as accuracy - Dave Z could post photos showing the differences he was alluding to. At least that way, Magnoli will have a better chance of getting his Mark II version to the Mantis' specs:)
100% agree David. Mantis, can you help us out with this one? I would go for the Magnoli version myself if it were accurate. As several others have already reported placing their order with Magnoli, it would really help many if we could give him the information, pics, etc. to make his version even more accurate.

jamesbondlifestyle.com does have a picture of the Tom Ford cardigan. It's not a real large image---probably not the best for getting specs on, but none the less, there is one image of it to compare to Indy's prototype.
I received am email when I sent one to Magnoli asking them about it. As everyone knows, we can already purchase one, but I am waiting until someone here receives it so I know I can safely spend the cash.
Hi all,
This is my first post, but I've been reading the threads here for a while. I've been particularly interested in the TF shawl cardigan from "QoS." To me, this is one of the stand out pieces of wardrobe from the film. I read through a few related threads, including this one, and wanted to throw in my two cents.
I had the pleasure of trying on one of these cardigans over the weekend, with the serious thought of purchasing it. And yes, I do mean the real TF item. I can confirm that it's a very thickweight sweater with pronounced grooves, pockets in the front, 5 buttons, and Navy Blue in color. A gorgeous sweater for sure! But I couldn't justify spending the $1,880.
Presently, it seems the best replica of this cardigan available is the one being offered by Indy Magnoli. Has anyone received their copy yet, and willing to post photos?
Good thing you didn't buy it...the one in the movie is black.
Now I'm probably going to get smacked in the head for asking this, but is black THE confirmed color? And before you do raise your hand, I've read through MANY posts here that debate the color of not only this cardigan, but the Sunspel shirts from CR and the Harrington jacket from QoS, with people swearing the color is black, but in fact, it was blue. As a photographer, I'll be the first to say that the combination of lighting, film stock, and processing can severly alter the colors of any article of clothing. I've also debated these issues at length on other forums. I do see that black is listed as the cardigan's color on Bond Lifestyle, but has this been substantiated from the costume department/designer as fact? $1,880 fact?
Black has been substantiated. I am with you on the color issue...i have some screen used pieces that truly look a wee bit different from what is seen on screen.

Great work, Magnoli!!! This piece is stunning!!! It's certainly worth the price at 1/12 of the TF too. I've ordered mine - Magnoli said it would be about one month before the first batch gets shipped.

Just send Indy a message at indy_magnoli@yahoo.com and let him know you are interested.
He'll usually get back to you very quickly.

I have ordered mine a while back, and have not heard from him since.
But I have faith in Indy!
