The King Of Bond Props

To me, the king of all Bond props is the From Russia With Love Attache Case issued by Q to Bond. Here are some pictures of my S.D. Studios attache case. Back when these were available it cost a pretty penny and took forever to get, but it is the ultimate Bond prop. I remember wanting one as a kid when I saw FRWL for the first time. If you don't have one, I seriously recomend getting one.

Very Nice, the construction appears better than the one used on screen.

Didn't realise the ammo was .22 caliber - always figured it was .32 - for the PPK.

What really attracted my attention was the SPECTRE signet ring! Always thought the Dawson/Pohlman Blofeld was the BEST!!!!

    Pretty slick setup!

It's always interested me how short of the quality of the real Swaine Adeney case these S & D versions might be.

Sure, it might have all the gadgets, but if its the same quality as that used by a cheap travelling salesman, its not real Bond-authentic, is it

    ?:)

    DG, great pictures.

I know about wanting one after seeing FRWL.

I believe every lunchbox and old suitcase that I could lay my hands on as a kid were converted into one of these... :v

I was wondering about the throwing knife though. Have you tried using it? The metal looks a little brittle on the picture.

Actually the knives are fine, not brittle at all. I know the picture makes one of them look buggered, but it's not. It's more a function of my crappy digital camera. Besides the two knives that came with the case, I had also purchased a single S.D. Studios throwing knife that came with a wall plaque. Apart from that, I also have three or four unfinished throwing knives direct from the machine shop that I got from Steve. They need to be polished and the supplied handles attached, but they are perfectly serviceable.

As to the quality vs the original Swaine Adney case, since I don't have one yet, I can't say. However, the original prop was not a Swaine Adney case, it was a prop made to look like the Swaine Adney case that was used in Dr. No, but much thicker to accomodate the gadgets. As to S.D. Studios quality, I think it's top notch. Too bad they stopped making them.

Ever since I was young and watched the Bond film .. I remember recreating my own little attache case .. similar to Bonds... when I was a kid.. with a cap gun luger and home made silencer stuck onto it.. and a few other bits and bobs.. i think my uncle or cousin gave me a black leather business briefcase and that was what i mucked about with as a kid with friends.. shooting each other etc .. i can also remeber it having an old talc tin in .. it unfortunately not magnetic.. and now the club brand.. But come on I was only 5 / 6 :))

More recently since making custom made props in a big way i made and converted my very own accurate working Attache case from the film .. with all the items working and very accurate...

and I also have the holy grail of Bond toys.. in my collection .. the toy / childrens version of the case by Multiple toys... I obtained this more recently.. through Nick at JamesBondToys.net .. i remember seeing pictures of it when i was younger in collectors magazines.. and Bond publications and books.. and always wanted one when i was younger... as a toy... however now looking at it and having it on display I doubt this toy could take the punishment that .. a die cast cap gun could take all those years ago... its a display piece now.. but what a fun toy... hidden knofe.. exploading note book... luger / silencer / rifle... bullets.. money passport... business cards... secret code machine .. case blows up if opened incorrectly.. you can even fire a bullet from the cases lock when closed... what an absolutely Cool Toy !

    col16.jpg

For me however the king of the Bond props is the Golden Gun .. Hands down .. Replicas.. and the originals.. My Grandfathers new replica.. which he is making is.. seriously unbeleivable! .. it works! actualy shoots like the film version with not camera trickery..... all parts work individualy .. all goes together like the film gun .. and not the SD Gun.

all gold plated in brass... cigarette case stores cigaretes.. waterman fountain pen writes. Colibri lighter lights and tackes teh Golden Bullet... Cuff Link wearable on your shirt cuff.... also making Scaramangas Belt Buckle... to store 2 Golden Bullets..

    Scaramangasgoldengun,

Very nice attache case, a very cool vintage Bond toy. I had wanted one of those too. But when I discovered the S.D. Studios Attache case and subsequently got one, my desire to have the Multiple Toys Attache wained. Still, it's a great piece for a Bond collection and you should feel proud to have it.

I have an S.D. Studios Golden Gun, the later version with the ruby and the wooden plaque. I'll post pictures some time. While it's nice, to me it's not the king. But I suppose your favorite prop has to do with who was your first and favorite Bond more than anything else.

yes good point... I wouldn''t say Roger Moore in TMWTGG was my favorite Bond or film although I do rate it highly... The Bond that first got me into the whole Bond series.. was watching the the old Bond films at my uncles house when i was young.. I think Goldfinger was the first one i saw a lot of.. and then other Connery films... then Rogers....

But I can see what you mean with my love for the Golden Gun ... I supose Christopher Lee.. is and always will be my favorite Bond villian .. odd job was classic.. as was many others ... but odd job was a silent henchman .... the coolest main villian is in my eyes Scaramanga....

as we are on the subject of the attache case..

here is my custom made replica of Bond's FRWL attache case.. converted from an old Vinatge case i picked up a while ago.. it was as accurate to the size and look as I could obtain .. and it displays very well in my collection alongside.. Klebbs lethal shoes and other bond props... and gadgets

    con29.jpg

all the gadgets work for real with this replica.. the talc tin magneticaly sits against the upper wall of the inner of the case .. the knifes / dagggers pop out at the touch of the buttons on the locks at each side... the gold coin belts hold the film accurate amount of gold coins .. and the coins are the same as used in teh film coated in gold.. spring loaded ammo tubes and compartments.. heavy brass ammunition .. the case stores neatly an AR-7 Rifle .. real lethal daggers with blood chanels like the film ones... and an alternate set of knifes for safe display .. and demontration to firends and fellow Bond fans when interacting with the case. for the photo i have added.. a Walther PPK/S the telephone bug detector.. and the Titiana photo.. from Ed.M .. the talc tin .. which is the most screen accurate replica available came from Nick at jamesbondtoys.net ... i think they are still available .. from his website.. and magneticaly click to magnetic surfaces.. great little extra..

the case has been roughed up a bit inside and out to give it the .. used in the field.. look .. much like the original.. well maybe not that used.. as it was flaking and falling apart ...

ike the original my replica is alluminium inside.. I dont know what the SD case was made from .. more than likely aluminium also.. as they did have the original case to reffer to .. But as I say i have never held or saw an SD case in the flesh.. have seen the sd Golden Gun for real and other props.. such as odd jobs hat and other smaller items..

    Scaramangasgoldengun,

Nicely done attache case. You have a lot of talent. I know there was someone else attempting to make new attache cases based on the S.D. Studios/original case design. I think that hit a snag. Oh well, maybe in the future EON will bless a line of Bond props that will satisfy the collector.

Just curious - any one here would like a case like this? - at a reasonable price of course - I mean "pretty penny".
    Anyone?

No - not SD Studios of course - but a good replica based on the same background information.

Well, it is not an easy project - there is a lot of components that goes into making this case - both customed machine pieces and the sourcing of the right off the shelves components.

    I would certainly be interested!

However, I would not be allowed to own the rifle, the ammunition or the throwing knife in the Netherlands, so there is little chance I could ever get it past customs... :#

i was actually going to produce a nice little run of replica cases made from scratch some time this year if I have the time... I have all the plans drawn up for it.. and could go into production very quickly.... but .. the main problem with me getting Bond props made.. by factories based on my designs etc .. is the fact that ....... would it be even worth my time .. and investment... thats the think that discorages me from doing it.. I have detailed plans and even prototypes all made for numerous Bond props that no one has ever seen before and never shown on my website....... My website is going to be changed dramaticaly soon .. and I plan to unvail a lot of actual real life everyday usable gadgets .. toys for big boys... high end products... all machined and a lot of poetic design and interpretation and insparation has gone into them .. but as I say .. depending on interest and ..... you do get a lot of people who say they will take one .. but when it comes to it they don't ... and I am sure there are lots of people on these forums who know exactly what i mean .. when developing something for a limited, exclusive run etc .. I shall keep it under wraps for now...

first up .. to be unvailed is the new Golden Gun .. made by my grandfather... it realy is beyond me how amazing this item is... and it fires starting pistol blanks.. and ever part functions as the gun and as individual items...

Don't worry, the package won't be scanned and isn't likely to be opened. As long as it's marked 'suitcase' o.i.d. it'll be fine. It's the import charges and VAT you should be afraid of nowadays :v

And btw, I won't be interested in a replica, Texas007, but it would be a nice project !

I realise the risk is small, but I'm nevertheless not going to chance it. You see, I'm a teacher and in the Netherlands something like that could easily cost me my tecahing liscence. Over here you are not allowed to teach if you have any criminal conviction.

The prop looks great, but it's not worth losing my job (and the opportunity to do that job ever again) for... :#

scaramangasgoldengun, I would certainly be interested in any NON-WEAPON props, for the reasons mentioned above. So sorry, no Golden Gun for me.

But I would certainly like to look at the list... :)

Oh, and the Talc is listed as currently out of stock at jamesbondtoys.net. :(

You can let the golden gun ship as seperate items then you buy a lighter,a pen,a cigarette case and a cufling no harm in that. Even teachers smoke.
And a pen is standard issue for a teacher :D

If i have a change to buy one ill do it that way. :v

You must be very mistaken about a teacher's salary if you think a gold pen is standard issue... :))

I agree, The King of all Bond props is the SD studios Attache Case, even though my favorite Bond prop is the Golden Gun, The Attache case is special because of all the funtions and all types of materials used to make the case, most props are made of one or two or a few materials, Resin, aluminum, metal, brass, plastic, etc

The Attache case has Leather, brass, wood, aluminum, plastic, metal, vinyl, glass,

simply the best and most beautiful Bond prop F.R.W.L Attache Case
