I just received the three ties today and while the Montenegro tie isn't shorter, it is narrower and as a result does not tie with the same full knot as the other two. Also, the lining seems to be thinner so the tie doesn't have the same weight. Certainly wearable, but a disappointment given the quality of the other two. I would suspect that perhaps a different contractor was used? ?:)

Yesterday, I received my Montenegro tie. I think the pattern is perfect, but I'm disappointed with the quality of this tie. The tie is very narrow and very thin. I hope the new Magnoli Montengro tie is better than I received.

I agree with those who have recieved the Montenegro tie and reported that not only are the dimensions of the tie incorrect, the quality of the material does not seem to be as good as the Royale and QOS ties. Let's hope besides widening the tie Magnoli improves the material as well.

I may be selling mine for half price if there are any takers.

Yesterday, I wrote to Magnoly to ask for the new Montenegro tie and try to change my narrow tie for the new tie.
    This is the answer:
"The new run of ties will be the exact same quality, fabric, weave, etc; only the shape will be a little different. I will be offering these new ties for half-price for those who have already ordered. Otherwise, you can send the one you have back in exchange for a new tie."

Ah, so we can do a straight swap? I haven't worn mine so it is in exactly the same condition as it arrived. I'd be happy to do a direct swap.

Yes, I have talked to him as well and you can send the tie back for exchange. However, you have to pay shipping to New Zealand I believe.

For that reason I will sell my 1st run Montenegro tie for $30 shipped within the US.

    How come New Zealand?

Excellent, thanks for letting us know.

I have now ordered the new size Montenegro tie and Hamburg tie - this (for me) completes all the Bond ties Magnoli offers that were of interest to me.

P.S. Like his new web site too!

I should be getting one of these shape-corrected puppies very soon. I can't wait!

Just got my new version of this tie yesterday. Tie is still too narrow. Just a very slight difference in width but not much. I"ll post a pic with the first version along with the new version later to compare.

Really? That would seem to contradict the most recent positive review on Magnoli's site.

yeah i think you are right..i just checked magnoli's site and before ordering my second tie, it did not have the option box of straight side or countoured when I found out the proper dimensions were fixed.

About the Royale tie and the Hamburg one... would anyone have screens of those two? I believe they were never really discussed (usually the Bolibia tie and the Train tie, which seems to remain a mystery; Magnoli should really do that one)

So when are the Royale tie and the Hamburg tie used?

I am sorry if this was already solved elsewhere.

The Hamburg tie is from "Tomorrow Never Dies". It is worn by Bond when he investigates Carver's newspaper printing press, as well as the subsequent parking garage car chase scene that follows.

The "Royale" tie is from the very last scene of "Casino Royale", where Bond finally tracks down Mr. White. http://screenmusings.org/CasinoRoyale/pages/CR_1570.htm

It's weird that Magnoli was able to recreate the Royale tie because I cannot see in any way the pattern from the blu-rays...

Would someone know when the "Hamburg Copper" tie is used? I take it's in the same movie, Tomorrow Never Dies, but I don't know when exactly.

And is it just me, or the Montenegro tie seems quite ugly... I mean, I would not wear it...

I know that there are very high resolution close-ups of the pattern floating around here somewhere. Perhaps Monza860 has them. Here's his Photobucket acount: http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj258/monza860/

The "Copper Hamburg" tie is also from TND. It's worn by Bond at the airport when he is greeted by Q & picks up his BMW.

Finally, I suppose neckties, like all clothing, are a matter of personal taste and style, but I personally am quite fond of the Montenegro necktie. I feel that the blue & silver squares create a beautiful, elegant pattern. The Montenegro & Quantum ties were my first purchase from Magnoli this summer, & they were definitely worth every penny.

Whoa... Monza seems to own quite a bit of things!

Were those ties made by T&A or Brioni?

    @BLU8
You did purchase the right-sized version, didn't you? There a threads saying that there was a «wrong» size.

I personally think that the Greene party and Champagne tie are the best. I didn't even think about the Montenegro tie, I thought the Montenegro tie was a little weird. Maybe I'm wrong, if you say so.

I believe that all of the neckties for TND were custom-designed for the movie by Lindy Hemming (the costume designer) & made by Turnbull & Asser (someone please correct me if I'm getting my facts mixed up). The Montenegro tie, according to Asp9mm in this thread: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/34085/james-bond-casino-royal-montenegro-tie-for-sale/page/2/ is by Brioni, from their 2004 & 2005 collection.

Yes, I ordered my Magnoli Montenegro tie in the corrected "proper width" version, & I couldn't be happier with it! And don't worry about being "right or wrong" regarding clothes. Everyone's tastes & style are different (the same with books, movies, music, food, etc.). I didn't mean to infer that you were "wrong" for not liking the Montenegro tie. I was just making a comment that I personally like the design. But if it doesn't fit your taste, by all means, don't feel pressured into it. Spend your money on something that you really like. :)
