Lamb loin chops with crispy chips and garden peas. Shall be coating the lamb in a rub of mustard powder, garlic and onion salt, dried mint, paprika, white and black pepper and a pinch of cayenne.
Would BBQ this, but some complete low-life stole my BBQ. It was a smart Webber gas job and cost too much at the time. Despite living down a country lane with only three neighbours in a mile radius I am still a victim of petty crime! I'm not vindictive, but don't see that a nice painful bout of bowel cancer or an exploding BBQ in the face would be too much to hope for... X-(

Believe me, I've checked all the classifieds and free ads for a Webber Spirit gas BBQ and will keep checking for some time to come. If and when I find the low life who stole it I'm barbequeing more than a f**king steak next time... X-(

Had a lovely "Stuffed Louisiana Chicken" as It's my 18th wedding anniversary today, and In the resturant I was even able to keep an eye on an adjacent TV ( in the Bar area ) showing TSWLM., No sound of course but like many Members Here I probably know the scrip backwards )

Homemade chicken, leek and mushroom pie with a herb butter pastry, served with mashed potatoes with a spoon of pesto stirred through it. Fresh raspberries and Cornish clotted cream for dessert.

Grilled steak and chicken and a ginger garlic sauce for dipping and mixing up with the mashed potatoes.
Sauce recipe (so easy and good)
tablespoon of chopped ginger
2 garlic cloves
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup chopped onion
juice from 1/2 lemon
1/4 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Throw the all the ingredients into a blender and demolish.
Recipe didn't call for it, but I drizzled in a small amount of olive oil to emulsify while running the blender.
Makes it a little thicker for the dippage. -{
Further to my very expensive Weber gas BBQ being stolen, I now have a £19 homebase sale special to try out tonight. Actually, I'm looking forward to real charcoal flavour, and for 19 quid including utensils and a cover, it doesn't look bad!
Got pork chops in cajun rub, pork sausages, meaty beef burgers, lemon and black pepper chicken breast and a few slithers of garlic marinated rib-eye steak. Oh yeah, a little potato salad to get one of the five-a-day sorted! )

I love sushi, but there's nowhere around here that does it, not sushi bars anyway. Occasionally you'll get a restuarant or pub with a special menu on, or the chef gets a bit creative and does a fushion dish of some sort, but unless it's really fresh, ie caught that day, then sushi is best left alone imo. Also, there is a lot to understanding how and what parts to cut, what goes best with each componant etc, that unless the chef specialises in it, then the whole point is lost. California rolls for instance are laughed at by the Japanese and seen as an insult to the art.

this restaurant gets everything fresh every day. it's owned by a gentleman from Japan, and his chefs reeeeeally know what they're doing. and eww California rolls. I never eat any of that kind of sushi. traditional stuff all the way for me!!
tonight, mom and I made a stir-fry with tofu, red bell pepper, green italian super Marconi frying peppers, cherry tomatoes and broccoli. we also boiled and then fried a bunch of beets. sooooo yummy.
1lb of sirloin steak, 1 200g ciabatta roll, 1 onion, 1 large field mushroom, garlic, rosemary, butter, mature cheddar cheese...
Fry the steak quickly so it's just sealed - take out the pan, add the butter, chopped garlic, onion and mushrooms, then add the sprig of rosemary and fry until soft and coloured. Slice the ciabatta in half and spoon the mixture on both pieces, place the steak on top then the cheese, sandwich together and cook in the oven for 15 minutes for medium... Baste the juices back over the top of the bread to soften slightly and avoid losing any calories!

Have you ever put chili over pasta? Now that's some good eating. Might have to do that again, next time I have chili.
