Sirloin steak---cooked medium---with sweet corn-on-the-cob and a twice-baked potato with bacon and cheddar cheese. And Red Stripe beer.

Not too fancy, but a lovely foundation on which to build an evening... :007)

To give Pen another tease, we have been twice to Tim Ho Wan and it was worth the wait.
Especially their Tassio Bao is excellent, I had 6 of them :D

Very big rump steak in Cajun spices, potato salad and mixed salad. Washed down with diet coke.

Had the butcher's cut tonight. That's the very end of the narrowest part of the rump. It's a cracking steak - the tastiest by far, but there's only two about 12oz each on an animal. Ask your butcher and tell them it's where the rump and sirloin meet at the aitch-bone. Dry rubbed it with a steak spice mix, and grilled it both sides until it was medium-rare, rested it for 5 minutes and served it with a few crispy oven chips sprinkled with course sea salt flakes. Bloody delicious!

Never heard of that one! Googled it and it sounds quite an odd dish. Cook it yourself, or are you in Canada at the moment?

The sun has hit the southwest, so it was barbecue tonight - just sausages and burgers, oh and a bit of steak, some good buns and a bit of salad. I didn't have any charcoal, so lit it with kindling and a few logs, let them burn down, then threw on a load of rosemary from the garden before cooking. Great aroma.

What cheesy chips and gravy? Not odd...deliciously naughty..the secret's in the gravy. Discard the wiki version of cheese curds, yuck...any good cheddar will do.

And no, not in Canada, made in my own kitchen! B-)

A tofu Stirfry with broccoli and snow peas from the garden, and some kale and red pepper with fresh ginger and soy-lime sauce. Brilliant.

A simple chicken curry with plenty of coriander and garlic. Steamed rice and poppadom. Trying to keep it healthy and low fat. Bugger.... :#

Actually, this is the third time I celebrate my 39th birthday. It's a nice age, I think.

Did a really healthy stir fry, but with plenty of clear juice so it was similar to a thin broth. Mushrooms, chillies, ginger, garlic, shredded cabbage, onions and thin strips of chicken. Loads of light soy, sesame oil, fish sauce, and fresh chicken stock, served on steamed rice noodles. One of those dishes where you're still saying how good it is right up to the last mouthful!

Baked half chicken, baked baby reds, caesar salad and cup of coffee. It was good because it was cooked by someone else.

Another healthy one, and topical too, Coronation Chicken with salad. Just a simple curried mayonnaise with some dried fruit, loads of baked chicken and salad.
