Being a Cornish girl myself, it's very sad to hear it's dissapearing from pubs down there too

I was raised on a small Greek island. Adjacent to the more well known, Santorini. We didn't get electricity until the year of my birth. There wasn't even a dock for the ocean liners to dock, hence the rope ladder passenger pickups.
Every summer would be my grandfather and I, on his small fishing boat. My earliest memories were of beating octopi on the rocks to tenderize them for cooking. Or pulling the nets up. Or being bit by a cuttle fish.

When I went to Canada on a sailing holiday, I was introduced to sea cucumbers - gut those little suckers, cut them into strips and saute with garlic, and it's not too dissimilar to calamari (oh and I make a mean paella as well...)

I bet you miss Cornwall sometimes too. I've lived and worked elsewhere around the world, but just couldn't help coming back. There's something about the sea and air down here, I've got two kids under three and am so pleased we're bringing them up here.

I usually don't dine on frozen dinners, but tonights dinner was Marie Callender's Lasagna. That was some good eating. Too bad I didn't have any Garlic Cheesy Bread from The Fish Market about two miles from home.

had a VERY VERY late lunch today, so I count it as dinner. amazing BLT at this place in Estes Park (near Rocky Mountain National Park, BTW)
actually ran into a friend of mine up there. AND AND AND...we ran into Grant Wilson from Ghost Hunters as well!!! he and some of the crew are doing an event at the Stanley. He graciously took pix with my friends and I , and offered to help us get our own small time ghost hunting group off the ground!!!!
but I'm rambling. late lunch/dinner was delicious.
Well after a large bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale, it was steak, large flat griddled mushrooms, new potatoes, mange tout and mini sweetcorn, with a delicious mushroom and cream sauce

A couple of days ago I celebrated my sister's 30th birthday with a brunch with her and friends and family. Sadly pancakes weren't available (they were only available in a certain timeframe), and so I had chichen schnitzel. I never have that kind of food for non-dinner, so it was quite an experience. I don't know if I would do it again, but it was enjoyable. No doubt about that.
