    Ah, they just don't make them like old Savile any more. Like many of his era, he spawned a million catchphrases that will live on eternally. RIP -{

    I never did get my Jim'll fix it badge - I waited ages for a reply!

    Very sad to hear of his passing.... always so upbeat... and zaney - hope he rests peacefully.

    he'll be keeping the duchess company no doubt, an amazing bloke who not only made loads of kids happy, made an impression on anyone he met and raised over £40m for charity.

    the guy was a saint, the type of person who started at the bottom and worked his way to the top, unlike the typical mass manufactured bullshit churned out by the likes of simon cowell et co.

    this is why the modern day 'celebrity' is usually a wash out after a few years and about as good a role model as a certain mr m manson......

    RIP JS -{

    I doubt this will mean much to non-Americans--and, perhaps, to Americans under 30--but Andy Rooney, the crusty commentator from 60 Minutes, died at 92, a month after his final broadcast. Yep, I enjoyed a few minutes with him. . .

    Boxing legend 'Smokin' Joe Frazier has passed away. Ali described his epic fights with Frazier as being "next to death." RIP champ.

    John Neville--Baron Munchausen himself and a familiar face to X-Files fans--has died at 86. He was suffering from Alzheimer's, so, no more troubles.

    Just heard the tragic news about Gary Speed, Wales Football manager...

    Can't believe he was only on Football Focus yesterday afternoon!

    My thoughts are with his family at this terrible time.

    Unbelievable....

    Loved him as a player, especially his Bolton days when he led a difficult dressing room,

    Always a gentleman off the field, articulate on screen.

    My heart goes out to his wife and kids....

    RIP Gary.

    Less surprising, the death of controversial director Ken Russell.

    Indeed...my sister has a season ticket for the Wanderers and had a areal soft spot for Gary...it's just strange....I guess the truth will out...

    I read in this morning's paper that the original "bad boy" director, Ken Russell, has died. We'll never see his like again. . .

    C'mon guys... this place is slipping.

    Syd Cain, 007 designer, has died aged 93. :(

    The man who designed the FRWL attache case, and Bond's buzzsaw watch in LALD, not to mention the alpine lair in OHMSS.

    The Times on Saturday had a good tribute, but it's pay to view.

    In other news, Harry Morgan, colonel Potter from M*A*S*H has passed away. He was 96. Maybe I'll have a marathon in remembrance today.

    A very good, often underappreciated character actor. G'night, Colonel!

    Christopher Hitchens dies

    Hardly surprising, but dismaying nonetheless.
