I idolized Farrah as a kid and have been a fan ever since. I have been dreading this day.. I am so sad and choked up about her loss as well as Michael Jackson's.
I met Farrah when I was in college and she was absolutely lovely to me...beautiful inside and out.
And as this is a great memory for a lot of guys on this thread, this is how I want to remember her too, in healthy and happier days:

Man, it's shaping up to be a tough year for people born in 1958 (I hope my brother is keeping that in mind). The news has come out that Billy Mays died. I'm sure the Brits have no idea who he was, but for Americans he's inescapable--he appears on commercials hawking everything from cleaners to glue to health insurance, and is best known for his loud and somewhat high-pitched voice. Too bad it wasn't the Sham-Wow guy who bought the farm. . .
Billy Mays seemed like decent, down to Earth guy; his ESPN commercials where he basically spoofed himself were very funny and showed that he didn't take himself too seriously. I'm really sorry to hear that he's gone.
I heard on the radio that Mays had gotten off a plane the night before his death that had a rough landing (one of the tires blew out) and some overhead compartments had opened and he got hit on the head with some luggage. It could very well be that he suffered a head injury and didn't even realize it (like Natasha Richardson a few weeks back).
Why Billy! He is hands down the best pitchman of all time and was such a great and down to earth guy. he will be greatly missed, i now have noone to yell at me on TV

Celebrities seem to be dropping like proverbs lately. OK, he wasn't a big name, but the impressionist Fred Travalena died of cancer. He used to appear on the old Tonight Show and in other venues, and was always dead-on in his impersonations. Life is fleeting.

Actor Karl Malden, who won an Oscar for "A Streetcar Named Desire," but is perhaps best known for his TV work in "The Streets of San Francisco" with Michael Douglas, has passed away at age 97.

To me, Karl Malden will always be the guy who did the American Express travellers checks commercials back in the '70s. Of course, I later saw him in other movies and he was always terrific. We should all live as long as he did and have such interesting lives.

A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, Birdman of Alcatraz, One-Eyed Jacks, Patton... Malden was in some of the greatest films of all time. A magnificent actor who held his own against the legendary Marlon Brando and George C. Scott, among others, he was truly among the all-time greats. He will certainly be missed, although 97 isn't a bad age at which to die. RIP -{

Anymore looking at the entertainment section of the newspaper is a depressing experience. The latest to go is Harve Presnell, who died of pancreatic cancer at 75. He's been most visible lately in films like Fargo and Saving Private Ryan, but he had a distinguished career in musical theater and was even in the film version of The Unsinkable Molly Brown. I know pancreatic cancer is a tough way to go, so I hope he's found peace.

Ironically, just two days before we mark the 40th anniversary of the moonlanding, the man who broadcast it to Americans, Walter Cronkite, has died at 92. He also was famous for his announcements of the JFK and MLK assassinations and for his declaring the Vietnam war a "stalemate;" and he earned the title of The Most Trusted Man in America. And that's the way it was.

Walter Cronkite was in everyone's home on a nightly basis, like a member of the family. He was an excellent journalist, and the man for whom the moniker "anchorman" was invented. From the beaches of Normandy to the moon landing, he had a front row-view of history. A remarkable life.
