It saddens me that the political climate has gotten so polarized that those attacks happen more and more.
Thanks go out to all good and honest politicians who serve us in a more and more complicated world.

Very sad to hear of the death of Mrs Jo Cox MP. Condolences to her family and friends, especially to her husband and two young children who must be hurting so very much at this time. The first UK MP to be murdered since the IRA killed some MPs in the 1980s and early 1990s. A very sad day for the UK. May she not have died in vain.

I think it's very important not to politicise the tragic death today of Jo Cox MP. People on either side of the EU Referendum will no doubt attempt to do just this over the week that remain before polling day. Let me just say now how wrong this would be. For one thing it's highly disrespectful to Mrs Cox and her family. The future of the UK remaining or leaving the EU should not depend one way or the other on this terrible crime against beautiful and highly intelligent woman; that would only be to sully her memory and what she stood for. However, t's correct and proper for both camps in the EU debate to have suspended all of their activities today.

Totally Agree Silhouette Man I sincerely hope no side tries to use her terrible murder

I'm sorry to hear about the death of the MP. Sorry to politicize, but what's amazing is that how bitter and partisan politics has gotten in the U.S.--and how readily available weapons are--it hasn't happened here. . .

No assassinations of political figures, thank God, but one candidate's rallies are regularly targeted by criminal violence. Let's knock on wood, and keep whistling through the graveyard
My sincere condolences to Mrs Cox's family, friends and colleagues during this terrible time.

RIP Anton Yelchin, truly shocking news for someone so young.
Indeed - a terrible waste...RIP
Shocking news - his performance as a kid in Hearts In Atlantis was superb.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I don't know the actor Anton Yelchin's work but that's too young to die. These sort of car pinning accidents seem to happen a lot to celebrities and mere mortals in equal measure.

Yelchin was a talented young actor. . .a true pity. . .
Such a sad, random and sudden end for a promising young talent. His Chekov, IMO, put Walter Koenig's to shame. The next Trek film will carry added weight and poignancy Rest in peace.

Very sad to hear that Anton Yelchin has died, I have been a Trekkie for many years, Star Trek: The Next Generation is my favorite incarnation of the series and my favorite TV show of all time. Yelchin really brought a lot to his role as Pavel Chekov, and based on the various comments I have read, he was quite a rising talent. My condolences to his family and his friends.

Yes, I well remember his death being reported on the TV news well. I recall I watched my newly acquired video tape of Octopussy that night in his memory. For the centenary of his birth in April 2009 I wrote the following article:
Today is the anniversary of the The Somme .
The first day of the Battle, July 1 1916, was also the bloodiest, and remains the worst in the British Army's history.
