What sort of luggage would Daniel Craig's Bond carry?

RiskoeRiskoe Posts: 14MI6 Agent
Daniel Craig As Bond.

If he were flying somewhere and needed a holdel for clothes, or if he was going off to a hotel and needed something to carry clothes/paperwork etc in?

I assume allot of his clothes he would buy as and when he needed them, but what sort of bag would he use to carry these?

If this has already been addressed could somewhere point me in the right direction perhaps?

Cheers,

Steve.

I've often wondered the same thing.....Maybe he steals the clothes/stuff he needs. He does have a tendensey to just take things. Slate (the hitman's) jacket, Tux with some lovely Church's Phillip shoes, Motorbike, 2 4x4's, Quantum earpiece. Ha,ha.

I think Daniel Craig carries GlobeTrotter luggage, and since Daniel Craig started wearing Tom Ford before 007, this could be an influence as well.

HI! You're still on here! I hadn't seen your name pop up in a while. Or maybe I just don't read the threads you normally "attend" :)) Great to see you, anyway.

Loeffs, I think we can agree on one thing: HE MUST NOT carry a freaking Louis Vuitton piece of luggage. While they are luxury items, they have become a symbol for "wags", SO NOOOOOO. Away from Bond, thanks. He needs much more refined stuff. I think a Tod's bag would be better. Or Prada even, you can't even see the name on most of the Prada luggage, the brand is hidden discreetly. And of course they're luxury items.

Some can be seen here, on their homepage photo. Which is appropriately very 60s, looks Sean Connery Bond! :D

When I brought a DB7 sometime ago, I was bought some lovely Aston Martin leather luggage for my birthday - basically two holdalls, one small and one large. I later sold the car (as it was slowly falling apart because I had the gall to drive it X-( ) and now feel a prat every time I take it out of the boot of my BMW. :#

Dunhill do some nice leather luggage - and are discreet - Alessandra is right, he wouldn't use anything with a name on it - and I agree that LV is NOT the way to go.... I'd almost say Prada isn't either ;)

Dunhill is a great choice Lexi... especially since Henry Cavill is their ad guy!! :D Two birds with one stone. Luggage for the current Bond, and Next Bond advertising :)) :)) I think Prada is very different from LV.. A)no showcasing and B)despite everything it is still much more elegant/exclusive. Since it bears no big signs and logos, the "wags" don't really fancy it as much :)) But, in any case, Dunhill may be the perfect solution :D

Aw, don't! It's still a fine piece of luggage. And a nice car :)) I wouldn't complain. I can understand the "downgrade" so to speak, but... still classy! :D

I don't think he would have bespoke luggage that he paid for himself - he would be prepared to bug out at any opportunity and leave it if he were compromised. Bond's lifestyle would make possesions disposible.

I agree - it is a bit of a shame that the films have focused so much on product placement.
A true secret intelligence officer would of course make do with what ever he could get away with - be it - how should I say this - borrow other possessions in order to get what he needs, to fulfil his mission. (Which, to be fair was shown in QoS - when he took Mathis money from his wallet, and yet got quite a bit of stick).....however, who doesn't like looking at lovely cars, super cool gadgets, and all the nice accessories....but to pay £100+ for a t-shirt that could well be discarded - or ruined.... does seem a bit excessive :#

I always find the mindset of those who complained about Mathis' final scene a bit curious. Bond is an intelligence officer/operative - he would simply utilise what he could. He would never be sentimental enough to leave money in a dead man's wallet. You take what you need, what you can deny the enemy and move on. This is Bond's world.

The death of Mathis wouldn't jar as much if Bond was at least consistant in his actions. In the next scene Bond happly says of the old guy who rented him the plane "He'll make a lot more when he sells us Out " accepting he'll be betrayed again( after Vesper you'd think he'd be getting a little p***ed off with this kind of thing ).Mabey he should of killed the old guy or at least knocked him out.
When I think how Bond treated the deaths of Others in the past, like Quarrel or Kerim.( it may happen in the real security field) but in the world of cinema it just feels wrong. Then unlike Bond mabey I'm not a Cold hearted B*****d,It will take me a long time to get used to this new kind of Bond. If at all. :#

Yeah, I'll admit the consistency is well out in these past two films. They really are stand-alone when you look back over the series. As much as I liked Casino Royale, and some parts of QoS - they really have fu**ed it up a bit... The formula has gone, and I just hope they can get it back on track.

What was going wrong with your DB7? It's still a beautiful car. I'm kind of upset that Aston Martin is going the Porsche route upgrading the same design. Still, the DB7, Vanquish, DB9, V8 Vantage, and DBS are pretty amazing. I hope the next generation are really special. No more vehicles with the same interiors.

Anyway, on luggage. I agree with the other posts. Subtle brand name on the luggage. Strong leather or other material that can take a decent beating and go into different climates. I have a few Dunhill pieces. I'm still looking for a new messenger type bag.

Imagine turning the key and finding the battery flat. Annoying? Yes, so you charge it up then put the charger away, then find the battery dead again. Replace the battery - no difference, so you replace the alternator (expensive), but it still doesn't hold charge. Then, as if by magic it's all ok. Great. And then it doesn't like 2nd gear. Won't go in, so great for 0-60 dashes, but beaten by a golf gti to 100. You get it sorted (expensive), and then it doesn't like reverse. Or fourth. Get it sorted again (expensive), and then the clutch needs replacing (very expensive at £5000). This is a 28,000 mile, five-year-old car BTW. And then the central locking doesn't want to work, but that's ok because it's decided to drain it's battery so you can't go anywhere anyway. Get that sorted (expensive) and the heater decides to stay on instead of the air-con, but it's august...
But then, on a beautiful summer's day, with unusually quite roads, it decides to work, and as you go through the box and drive like you imagine Bond would on his day off - it works. Everything is forgotten and life is perfect.
Which is why, after owning a BMW M3 for two years, I have started looking at DB9's. Nothing makes you "feel" like an Aston Martin. Plenty will be better in probably every way, certainly cheaper to run, but...
Nice examples of DB9s with twenty thousand miles or less are suddenly in my price range and I don't think I've learned a thing... :D

I know a guy who locks his DB9 away every winter in a top secret high security heated garage. He never even sees the thing from about Octoberish until April/May. Now, I appreciate wanting to keep it pristine, but we're not talking about someone who paid every last penny of their life-savings (and raided their Nan's penny jar as well) to buy this, and we're not talking about the legendary Bond DB5 that was just sold at auction. Personally, if I had a DB9 I'd luxuriate in it year-round - except on winter days that no one in their right mind would drive anything other than a dog sled.

As for luggage, in real life secret agents (or intelligence officers if you prefer), are never supposed to stand out. They are supposed to be the grey men who blend with their surroundings. So, if they're supposed to be very wealthy and a bit flash, then a bit of bling on their luggage is fine and they could indeed prance around neck-high in LV logos. But I suspect that the majority of operatives take a much more low-key approach and employ luggage, which - as others have suggested - would be practical and hard-wearing to blend-in with the non-chav masses. My personal piece of luggage is a nylon garment bag that I've had for 20-odd years. There's electrical tape wrapped around the handle and the outer pocket (where I carry a newspaper and umbrella at most) has been stitched at the bottom where it frayed and came apart. Neither Fleming Bond or celluloid Bond would never be caught dead with it but my reasoning for continuing to use it is that it works and is so non-descript (decrepid?) that no one in their right mind would ever steal it. My carry-on/overnight bag is much much nicer as it never leaves my sight!

I just rewatched LTK (hello James Bond, I've missed you... please come back to me soon. With Henry Cavill's face :)) ) and Bond does have quite a few pieces of luggage for various purposes going around in that one. All are clean-cut, no "brand-showing" types. I would think Lexi hit it on the head, Dunhill seems like an excellent solution. :D

Sounds like that DB7 had a lot of gremlins...Did you go back to the factory and they couldn't figure it out? I still have plans for a DB5. The thing with Bond cars in real life is they need to be reliable. I followed the development of the E46 M3 and couldn't believe how BMW handled the engine problems once they released the car. Of course, they did the right thing in the end but still they shouldn't have released the car early. I still haven't found the perfect year around Bond car. I really like the custom DB9 Sportmodificato. Very subtle Bond like car. But the DBS is a bit more aggressive. Still I can't get over how car companies can consider a car a different model when it shares the same interior. That's the one thing that makes me prefer the Maserati GranTurismo over all the current Aston Martins even though it isn't quite a Bond car.
