just watched an interview with henry on you tube and he was asked what he would have done if he was not an actor and his reply was that he would have joined the forces as he comes from a military family. his father was royal navy,he has a brother in the royal marines and a brother in the army.also he was in the cadets at school.hopefully all this may come in handy if or do i mean when he gets the role of bond in say 4 years time.

I wasn't informed about Henry's family tradition, but I've been trying to promote him as Bond for a while now after seeing him in the Tudors.... I REALLY hope he becomes the next Bond. Looks the part for sure and certainly can act. The above I guess can only help. What matters though is that he is given a good script. Without that, I'd watch him anyway because he does look like James Bond to me, but I'm afraid I'd just do it for the visual pleasure :)) :))

He looks the part, certainly you could see him turning into Sean Connery. Neck a bit thick, but that's the body building I think.

Thing is, while his voice ain't bad, it's not quite deep enough and so conveys class connotations to the English, or British ear. He sounds like an English cricketeer or rower, a bit public school, which is far from the braying of yore but nonetheless is nowhere near the classic Connery or Moore brogue.

I've been saying since 2005 that Henry Cavill is the James Bond of the future...and the longer Craig sticks around, IMRO the more likely Cavill will succeed him when the time finally comes.

This, along with his far too feminine features put me off him as Bond, he's a good young actor, but for Bond? Not for me, he doesn't have the masculine presence that the other actors have had in the past and I don't think he'd quite cut it.

That said, if he were cast I would wait to see the end product before critisizing.

When the original batch of Bond replacement names were being bandied about, I thought Cavill looked the closest to who the new Bond should be. He recently did a bunch of Dunhill ads in a tux that were quite Bondian as well.

When Craig stops making bonds Cavill will probably be in his 30's, a perfect age for a new Bond. He was too young in 2006, but give him a few years and some training at the gym and he will be a good choice.
Sam Worthington and Rupert Friend has good movie careers going, particularly Worthington. That shows us the casting people where on to something when they considered them. It's allmost surpriricing that Cavill hasn't really done much at cinemas yet, but that only increases his chances to be the next Bond.

I don't think he needs any extra training at the gym, he's got a TO DIE FOR body as is. No extra training, (he does go to the gym and it shows, but what he does now is perfect IMO) it would make him look like one of those way too pumped-up gym buddies, it's vulgar, not Bond. Defined muscles but not bloated. And that's exactly how he is now (just watch his many shirtless scenes in The Tudors). He's perfect as he is... body and face. :x Ahhh it will be a happy day for me when (let's hope) he takes over as Bond :007)

I really don't like the prospect of Cavill taking over Bond when Craig retires from the role. It would be a sign of going back to safe "tall, dark, and handsome" Bonds. I want another unconventional choice that we can't forsee now.

i completely disagree, go back to the original bond the way its supposed to be.

Boring and formulaic ? No thank you. I rather have something that grabs me.

The key to Cavill's success as Bond---either in addition to, or in spite of, his good looks---will be in his interpretation of the character, and the overall balance and tone of the films...which of course comes down to the scripts. In that Craig WarsTM year between October '05 and November '06, I refused to call the time of death on James Bond and the franchise, because I was willing to extend the benefit of the doubt...and Bond #7, whomever he might be, will get the same shake from me.

Just as I'd never say that Craig shouldn't have been Bond, neither can I say that a really good-looking guy can never be Bond again.

Cavill just does not give off that sense of manly man hero with charisma, that is who I want and unfortunately actors like that are few and far inbetween today. The ones I can honestly think in the current generation is Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman. Maybe if Cavill does something that gives off the right amount of masculinity, I'll happily accept him.
