Tom Ford Sunglasses

For those of you who have purchased the Tom Ford James Bond Sunglasses, where did you buy them? Is the $266.99 price I found thru EZContactsUSA via Amazon too good to be true? Any other suggestions?

Well.....if you don't mind hitting ebay, there are a ton of Tom Ford "Bond" sunglasses out there at the moment. I snagged a pair for $183 last week, and that seems to be about the average price people are paying in the auctions right now. I haven't received mine yet, but the seller's feedback was top notch so I expect them to arrive in great condition soon. If you do pick up a pair, let us know what you think!

I just received my sunglasses this morning, and I'm pretty much thrilled with them! They will be replacing my Casino Royale Persol's (what can I say, I'm a fan of Bond sunglasses!!!), and I actually like their feel and fit quite a bit better so far. The blue tint of the lenses will probably take a couple of days for me to adjust to, but it is a nice sunny day today and they seemed to do their job well. I would have had a difficult time parting with > $300 for them, but I think they are definitely worth the ~$180 price they can be found for now.

I am hemming and hawing over this one. $199 is a very low price for these sunglasses. However, what is giving me food for thought is the seller has had NO active feedback since Feb 2007 and all the photos of the glasses look like they were lifted from the James Bond Lifestyles site. Add to the fact that I got burned once before from a seller selling a "popular item" lower than the others (and had absconded with funds and PP could not recover--fortunately a low amount) and thus the doubts about this vendor.

And, for another $30-$50, there are plenty of other glasses available.

I tried these on finally for the first time at Nieman Marcus today while on the road here in Dallas, TX. I fell in love with them immediately, felt like Bond and even negotiated at least a sales match from the internet. They wouldn't budge and stayed firm at $450. I'll be on ebay from here on out...

Great glasses though. I'm in love..... :D

Although I didn't go with the unknown seller, I did manage to grab a pair from another vendor with updated and recent feedback for about the same price. $180-$200 seems to be the going Ebay rate. Mine arrived yesterday and are awesome.

    Guys,

I managed to find a pair at smartbuyglasses.co.uk for about GB170 but it did take 2 very long weeks for them to be delivered. I must say that they look fantasic and are extremely cumfortable and are worth every penny. So much so tha last weekend, I lost my pair on a Stag Do in Bath so there is a free pair going somewhere to anyone who finds them.

I managed to blag my good lady by saying its not all bad as they were insured through by bank which explained why I placed an order on Monday for a second paid:D Like I said, well worth the money!!!!!!!
    Of course you are

Just went to the TF NY store today. They informed me that they are no longer carrying or producing the James Bond sunglasses. So get em quick, cuz when they're gone, they gone.

Going tonight. Thanks for the warning.

Off topic: was there anything else available at the Tom Ford store?

They may have some of the ties. And the cardigan and shirt are usually in stock.

I have just bought myself a pair and really enjoy wearing it on a sunnyday, it looks and feels very special (smoked blue is fantastic) and it is the first piece of bond item I have ever bought and I am sure it won't be the last.

For those still wanting to buy them, check out pgk2210 on eBay. He had quite a few of these stocked earlier, and they've been going pretty cheaply. I got my pair from him for $187 plus shipping. He just sent them out today, but if the feedback from other buyers of his is any indication, I won't be disappointed.

That's the same seller I bought mine from, and I was extremely pleased with the transaction. They were shipped quickly and were in perfect condition when they arrived.....plus I thought the price was great. Enjoy the new sunglasses!!!

This is the same eBay seller I recently purchased a pair from. I'm still waiting for them to arrive. For those in the States who purchased a pair, how long did it take for them to arrive?? I paid for them on 7/08, and they shipped on 7/15. Still waiting as of today. I find it odd that the seller lists his location as Stockton, CA but these are shipping from Canada.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Average ship time for Canada Post Express to the USA is 6-10 business days. Double check the tracking info you (should have) received from Paypal, though...I got my shipment notification yesterday, but when I went to track the package it dated back as early as July 15, so it's possible yours was sent out even earlier.

Excellent aviator sunglasses. Unfortunately I paid a bit more for mine since I purchased them at retail price at Bloomingdales but oh well. The only time I tried eBay I got scammed from a seller who had 98% feedback so never again.

Since, I started the thread I might as well give an update. I found out that I still had insurance credit for a pair of frames, so I found a local optometrist who takes my insurance and also carries Tom Ford. Frames are costing me $260, plus another $260 for my progressive lenses. Not cheap, but since I need the prescription anyway, it is a $200 savings. They should be in next week.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Thanks for the additional info, GrimFandango. I did receive a tracking number via Canada Post. It shows as posted July 13th, left Canada on July 15th, arrived in "destination country" on July 21st, and that's the last listing. I would expect quicker shipment for $20.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

As would I, especially with it being toted as "expedited." Time in customs is not usually taken into account in the shipping estimate, though, so that could be one reason for the delay. Still, after seeing that the glasses should ship within two days of receiving cleared payment and that they would be sent expedited, I'm a little miffed at the length of time it has taken. Heck, I've gotten CD's on eBay from Germany that have arrived faster being sent standard air mail.

Remember that shipping from Canada is still considered "international shipping" to the US, so it can take a bit longer than expected sometimes. From what I understand, the package still has to go through customes after you see that it arrived in the destination country....so that could slow things down considerably. And unfortunately, the CA tracking website doesn't show any information after the package arrives in the destination country. My sunglasses actually arrived about a week after the tracking website indicated that they were in the country, so you should probably expect them by the end of this week if my experience is any indication. I know it's tough to be patient when you're waiting for something like this, but at least you still have plenty of summer left to enjoy the sunglasses when they do arrive!

Good points, jaash, and thanks for letting us know the time it took after your TFs arrived in the country. Inputting the tracking number in the USPS website shows info similar to that on the CA website, so I'm hoping the USPS website will pick up the tracking duties. Again, thanks for the info!

    Jaash and GrimFandango,

Indeed, thank you both for the info! GF, I too discovered that the Canada Post tracking info also works in the USPS site. It actually provides more info that the CP site. I e-mailed the eBay seller, and he got back to me within 24 hours. According to USPS, they attempted delivery on Saturday (the day I was out of town, of course) even though they didn't leave a notice. So hopefully, they'll redeliver today. (fingers crossed) All said, it took 10 days for the glasses to reach me - not too bad in the scheme of things, but again, for $20, I would expect speedier service (given that Int'l Priority only costs $10.95).

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Mine took one week from Montreal Canada to NE PA. All depends on the geography!

Glasses arrived on Monday! They are fantastic and came with all the paperwork and accessories. I'll post a pic of them tonight when I get home.

    Kind regards,
