I am sure they are the same model, but as one who has a pair and seen the film, the lenses are not mirrored. In fact, they look black when viewed dead on.

The glasses are up again for $199 at Beyond the Rack if anyone still needs them (or needs a second pair).

I was thinking about getting the Rose gold version. I don't know, I think that even if they do are blue, they don't seem that blue in the movie, so it would be okay for me to get a different shade. What do you think about the Rose gold version?

I have these and they're great, the lenses are very yellow gold rather than rose gold and have high reflection.

Thought I'd mention this as they look very different when you see them in person.

No I don't regret buying these, I also have the matt silver/blue lense model also and they're both very different options.

I think I am destined to never own these glasses. I ordered my first pair about a month ago from a very reputable power seller on ebay only to get a message from him a week later telling me that they were stolen in a burglary (whether this is true or not, who knows). Of course, he doesn't have the money in his account to refund me right away so I have to wait two weeks to finally get a refund. Then I go on ebay again and get a pair from another reputable seller who is selling hundreds of glasses a month with 99.5 feedback. These were a little more expensive at $224. What happens you say, well instead of shipping USPS Priority like his listing says, he goes through the dreaded fedex smartpost (worst shipping service ever, google it). It has been 16 days and no sunglasses. I guess I will have to open a paypal claim to get my refund and try for another pair. I guess 3rd times a charm, right?:s So if anyone has the 108s in the 18c (Grey lense) color, please let me know and I will gladly buy them.

FedEx are just the worst and yet sometimes it's incredible. But in Canada, for something that comes from the US, they almost add more fees than de duties and tax we have to pay. They have so many fees, it's incredible. Also, you have to be there when they come, because it's hard to get to their warehouses. It's not like USPS or CanadaPost.

I think that the only reason why it works is because they give very good deals to the merchands. Because for the customer, it's just the worst. And yet, sometimes it can get to your door 2 days after you ordered at a relatively low fee.

I hate FedEx. Royal Mail, USPS and CanadaPost all the way home.

And I've never really had an issue with shipping until now. What makes me mad is that the most recent seller pulled the old bait and switch and had me under the impression that it would be USPS Priority when in fact they switched to fedex smartpost without telling me (Until I contacted them for tracking info, because the original USPS tracking was destroyed). I'm sure it saves them money shipping through smartpost but it is like the black hole of shipping. you can look online and find a million more horror stories about them than any other company.

Good to know that's doable. I know some frames don't lend themselves well to holding prescription lenses. I may have to look into this option myself. Thanks for the heads up!

Well maybe if you have a heavy prescription it won't fit, don't take that for granted

I have a fairly strong prescription for blended bifocals and didn't have a problem, though I couldn't get the blue lenses and chose a smoked gray with the matte silver frames. They are still the coolest glasses ever; cooler than my Persol's and Armani's. Definitely my first choice when in my DBS searching for villains. B-) Incidentally, the two Persol's from CR couldn't handle my prescription.

I found a great budget lookalike pair of QoS Tom Ford 108 sunglasses: http://www.sunglasswarehouse.com/james-bond-sunglasses.html

Really, at less than $15, how can you go wrong? I just ordered a pair with the silver frame for myself.

15$ that's a joke. Of course the lenses probably suck, but 15$? That's cheaper than the drugstore glasses.

I ordered the cheap replicas and they came in today. They are actually extremely similar to my Tom Fords. The only difference besides the leather wrap/TF logo is the fakes have hinged arms. My Tom Fords have a slightly more shiny finish than the fakes but other than that they are very good alternatives.

Thanks for the report. Which colour did you get? The site doesnt seem to list the lens size (unless I am missing it). Are the lenses and overall proportions about the same as the TF?
  • trs007trs007 AmericaPosts: 102MI6 Agent
Mine arrived yesterday. I do own the TF's but I save those for "special occasions". My daily wear sunglasses take a bit of wear and tear in the field and I wasn't about to subject the TF's to being tossed about the car, etc etc. So, these seemed like a nice alternative for the "bond look" without worrying about $200 sunglasses.

They are lighter than the TF's, the lenses are black on both sides, and the frames a bit wider (I did not do an exact measurement) than the TF's. The bridge looks fairly accurate and just basic plastic "buds" on the ends of the stems rather than the leather TF logo.

Cost of glasses: $15 Ability to create that QoS look and not worry about damaging the good pair: priceless.
  • PanachePanache xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPosts: 89MI6 Agent
Good feedback trs007. I will probably pick a pair of these up myself as a result.

Like you I save my Bond glasses for special occasions after having to buy 2 pairs of CR Persols when my first pair pair got damaged in the field. You'd be supprised the amount wear and tear that goes on out there in the field. (sorry couldn't resist that).

As toutbrun said the lenses are no doubt inferor but as a basic budget alternative they seem good value. Good for "bombing about in."

I got the silver frames (it doesn't list a lens color but they are black). I like them a lot because I have the TF with silver frame and grey lenses and the grey lenses have a mirror quality to them but I don't want to get the ones from the movie because of the blue lenses. These black lenses are perfect and I don't have to worry about messing them up. I might actually order a couple more pairs just to have as spares.

I just put my order in for the replicas. I got the silver frame, apparently I got the last one in stock. Nice! I'm not really a sunglass person (I have very bad eyesight so I have to wear eyeglasses all the time, sunglasses without corrected lens aren't that great for me), but for $15 to get the QoS look? I'm fine with that. I'll post pictures when they get here next week.

Ordered mine today as well (silver frame). Love my TF's, but I'm always nervous wearing them out...if anything happened to them, college tuition costs would make buying a replacement pair somewhat problematic.
  • trs007trs007 AmericaPosts: 102MI6 Agent
I think the Sunglass Wearhouse owes Blu8 a commission. As of this AM, I was going to get a few more pairs for some gifts and the silver frame/black lens is not listed as an option. Did AJB cause them to sell out??? :007)
