Goodies I found in London

As some of you may know I just came home from my vacation in London and the British GP. On my last day in London I made a stop at Harrods, and I managed to find some goodies!

LondonDay7054.jpg

I actually picked up these T&A pocket squares at the T&A store.

LondonDay7051.jpg

Most T&A ties were half off at Harrods.
DSC01679.jpg

I picked up this Black with super small dots, similar enough to the TF tie in Quantum.

DSC01677.jpg

I picked up this blue tie that also looks close enough to a Quantum tie.

DSC01674.jpg

The final T&A tie is a herringbone in navy, it's not the large scale but it's also not the small scale one so I got it. All in all the T&A ties are not screen accurate but they certainly have that Bond look and feel to them and at half off how can you go wrong.

LondonDay7052.jpg

I bought a plain white TF shirt, and it's very nice but not on sale. I also found a screen accurate Quantum tie!

LondonDay7053.jpg

This is the first tie he wears in the movie, it has the least screen time of all his ties but it's very nice. I have a couple of problems though, as the sales person told me it pulls extremely easy and I'm noticing several pulls already and again it was full price. :( One more thing it was the last one!

Here I found the CR Train shirt!!! On sale for 99 pounds, unfortunately it's a button cuff and I believe in the movie he has a different collar.

LondonDay7056.jpg

Here I'am wearing it, it definitely needs to be tailored but it looks outstanding. Also don't criticize me because I quickly threw on a black suit. :)

I would like to show my whole vacation in detail with pics, I should be done writing about it in a week so keep on the lookout for it in Off Topic Forum.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

    Nice man!!

I may be mistaken but that herringbone tie looks like the correct "Bilbao" tie (except as you said, it's in navy).

I'm fairly certain the CR train shirt is french cuff. Would you mind me asking how much the tom ford merch cost? You could PM me if you like. Did you see any other TF stuff there?

    Thanks!

As I said unfortunately it's a button cuff. The shirt was 279 pounds and the tie was 119ish pounds. I did get back 52 pounds with a tax free thing, that includes the other stuff too.

No it's the medium size herringbone whereas in the movie he has the large scale one.

Monza, hate to be the barer of bad news, but I believe your TF tie is not SA. The pattern as far as I can see is actually the pattern of the champagne tie, the greene party tie pattern is different. Amazing tie none the less. And yes, I have the TF ties and they snag on EVERYTHING! My TF contact actually recommended that you lotion your hands before putting on TF ties lol.

And great find on the Train shirt. I have been looking for that EVERYWHERE. Let me know if you even find another.

This isn't the Greene party tie, this is the beginning, Siena tie seen very briefly. I didn't take the best picture but yes that's the one and yes it's the same pattern as the champagne tie too. They had a bunch more of the Brioni shirt at Harrod's, I bought the last one in size 15 1/2, there should only be 16 and up left.

I hope you weren't assured of the accuracy of the tie by the same person at Tom Ford Harrods who swore to me that the cardigan was definately navy (because that's all Ford had every manufactured, apparently...) and that the Russia overcoat was definately the medium grey (not black/charcoal) they had in stock....:o

I saw a similar black tie with micro dots at a Burlington Coat Factory in Tempe, AZ for around $9. 100% silk too. Should have pulled the trigger...

Swap that tie out with the NEW Magnoli Montenegro tie and you have the look down PERFECT! :)

Congrats on finding that blue TF tie from the opening scene as well! That's the one that seems to have fallen a bit under the radar.... :)

Btw Monza, I pulled out the Bilbao tie and you're right, your herringbone tie is somewhere in between mine and the small-scale herringbone pattern. Still a damn fined tie tho! You'd look no less Bondian wearing that :)

I didn't receive the new wider tie yet, that's why. Also that's not what he wears in the movie it's just a promo pic.

Nope, the person at Harrod's wasn't a Bond fan so he had no clue. He did say that he gets asked about Bond stuff all the time though.

Indeed. So few staff of, say, Ford shops, or Brioni or T & A are Bond fans. Nor do they have any knowledge of what was supplied to the production. Hence, they parrot third hand info as being verbatim that they have had from other similarly uninvolved employees in their firm.

Good to see you are making the decison upon screen accuracy based upon your screen grabs and the tie in Ford's at Harrods.

I have even more of a jaw dropper...a few weeks ago I was in New York City at the brand new Omega store on 5th avenue. A pretty young sales woman was helping me try on Planet Oceans in various sizes and with various bands. They were very gracious offering me wine, champagne, bottled water, etc...they even have different light settings in the sitting areas so you can see the watch under fake sunlight, or as a dimly lit room. All cool stuff...right? BUT as I am admiring a 45.5mm with rubber strap under "sunlight" the woman asks if I had seen the watch in a magazine. I answered honestly that I love the style of the watch but truly became interested it when Bond wore it in Casino Royale...to which she asked, "Oh, James Bond wore an Omega?" (Pause) Now truly I thought she was putting me on but then after talking with her for a bit I realized she wasn't. Sigh.

The 007 special editions? I guess she doesn't know or look at the watches much.

I tend not to begrudge staff who might not be knowledgeable on such things. But I do think its definitely wrong to be rude to customers who may be interested in a purchase as a result of Bond, which seems to be the case at some shops like T&A and Brioni.
