Hi all
I wonder if any of you can help me? I live in the UK and have recently purchased a 2nd generation SD Studios Golden Gun on ebay from a collector in Calafornia called Tom Mulhall does anybody know him on the forum?
The GG was advertised as mint by Tom but on receipt of the item today I have some concerns about the pen cap on the pen barrell which is a push on which dosent even fit that well and I find it hard to belive Steve at SD Studios would have manufactured such a poor fitting part when the rest of the gun is surperb!. I do not want to cause any trouble and do not like having to post this question which may be questioning a persons integraty but I know these GGs are fairly rare so am hoping that somebody on the forum may be able to help me?
I already own another 2nd generation GG and it has a screw thread on the cap that fits perfectly which is why I am questioning the originalty of this as a geniune SD part which could then not be described as a Mint 100% original 2nd generation Sd Studios golden gun.?
I have emailed a person called 037scaramanga who has posted a clip on You Tube of a GG being assembled which also seems to have a push fit pen cap, do any of you know this person?
Any information would be very much appreciated

I recieved your email, first i want to welcome you to the forum
As i have responded and mentioned in the email, yes i made a pen cap without the thread inside push and pop cap as in the movie when Scaramamga assembles the Gg, and made a short video of me assembling the GG with the pen cap i made, i sold that non SD pen cap to a collector but without the GG , i still have my second generaton SD studio GG with it's original Sd studio pen cap, i sent you a pic of both pen caps mine and the SD studio version, compare those two and let me know if it's the same as the one you recieved.
Poor fitting part? that hurt LOL.
the aftemarket pencap was not a bad fit to my GG, not all GG's are made identical when it comes to size, they can be off half a mm from one GG to the next. whether it be the cigarette case, lighter or pen,.
i hope i have answered your question, and hope you can straighten things out with the seller, keep us posted here on the forum with the developements.

Many thanks for your reply to my post and the subsequent photos you have emailed me with the pictures of the pen cap you made next to an original SD cap.
This is identical to the pen cap that I have been sent with my GG purchased from a collector based in Calafornia.
I am sorry to get you involved in this Leo but, who did you sell the fake pen cap to? and did you make them aware that it was not a geniune SD Studios cap when they purchased it from you?
Kind regards
Robert Ballard
Leo is a Genuine Guy, he would have told the dodgy Cali Collector. I have done Business with Leo and he has been 100% with me all the way.
Hi Rob,
What a mess, i'm going to try and clear this because i'm getting emails from both parties.
I sold Tom my pen cap last year, as i had no use for it, it was an extra cap i made with no thread inside to be a push in cap.
i did tell Mr. Tom about the pen cap not being an original SD studios pen cap, could he not have heard me correctly when i told him it was not an SD studios pencap or maybe assumed it was .
I have both pen caps in my (yourprops) collection.

bottom line is that i did mention it to the Tom, and he either failed to tell the buyer this or just didn't tell him. it's unfortunate it came to this.
I have sold many GG's in the past and have not recieved a complaint regarding the guns ,
I have one listed on ebay at this moment and i'm fighting myself to let it go, it's beautiful example of the first gen GG.
Rob and Tom, i hope you guys can work this out.
when it comes to James Bond prop collecting we are a very small community, basically everyone knows each other one way or another, and bad transactions like this can make every collector skeptical to buy props.

Tom is one of the most genuine collectors I have ever dealt with .. he is a
truly down to earth Guy .. and a true Bond fan....
I would not like somone with a great reputation like him and such a
devotion to Bond and the Bond community .. getting a bad name over
a miss-understanding...
he would not miss lead you with any false information ..
I can give you my word on that .. and my reputation .. in terms of
deals, sales and contacts etc with fellow forum members and
collectors .. is 100%
I hope the issue can be resolved etc ..
best of luck guys
cheers :007)
