My S.D. Studios S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Ring

I think this is probably the rarest item that S.D. Studios ever made. Although Number One's Ring was touted for sale in several S.D. Studios brochures and flyers, only a drawing of the ring ever appeared. Indeed, I bought this ring directly from Steve as a prototype ring. I believe it to be the only one ever made. It's not the most accurate S.P.E.C.T.R.E. ring, but it is rare and I've never seen a picture of another one from S.D. Studios anywhere. The plaque has the Collectible Concepts Group logo because S.D. Studios merged with that company later in its life.

I have another S.P.E.C.T.R.E. ring somewhere, but it is a lower grade and not very accurate.

Thank you very much. I do have an office that I have partially set up as a display. Unfortunately it has become a repository for some of the other things I collect as well. I still have not purchased a desk yet either. It's a work in progress. I do have a book shelf devoted to some of my Bond props and watches with some ephemera thrown in for good measure as well as another book shelf containing my Bond books and books and magazines related to Bond. Both are full from floor to ceiling and don't contain my full collection.

    Got the following message today:

    "DG,

Saw your posting and thought I would let you know that Steve (SD Studios) did make and sold a very limited run of the SPECTRE rings. While yours is not a prototype I have seen very few in others collections. It is, as you stated, a pretty rare item.

    Ed
    TheSpyBoys.com"

Since I know that Ed had an insider relationship with S.D. Studios during the Bond prop production and was even in a T.V. commercial with Desmond Lewellyn (Q) related to S.D. Bond props, I take him at his word. Thought I should post this here in the interest of accuracy.

    Hi Donald,

I used to have this item in my collection but sold it some time ago,:# though a beautiful display, to me The SD spectre Ring was inaccurate in many ways , The clamshell box also came with a white cardboard protector that would slide over the black velvet box with a Collectitble Concept Group sticker on top.

I personaly like the Megatron Spectre Ring with Mother of pearl and laser etched Octopuss.
i kept that Ring over SD's

I agree with you. I had the SD Studios ring and it was not screen accurate so I sold it and kept the Megatron Spectre Ring.

Wow, cool. Thanks for sharing. I'd have to agree with you that Megatron's ring is probably the best S.P.E.C.T.R.E. ring out there. However, I could never part with any of my Bond stuff. But hey, that's me. If you have anymore S.D. Studios items please post pictures.

    DG

Well, that answers the question I was going to ask ! Thank you.

I've always fancied getting a S.P.E.C.T.R.E Octopus ring, but I wasn't sure which one was the best, or that fitted into my budget.

So, how much does a Megatron ring cost (if they still make them) ? And where is the best place to get one ?

Hmm, that's a good question. I don't recall his selling price. He used to be a member here, but I don't know if he migrated his account. He is also a member over at the RPF (Replica Prop Forum). Beyond that, Mantis or Ed may remember his sale price. Best place to get one is directly from Megatron.
