My Gilbert 12" Bond Figure

Here is my personal Gilbert Bond action figure with assorted loose items. I rember asking my folks for a Bond action figure for Christmas when I was a wee lad. I got a Captain Action with a Superman costume instead. They had stopped making these when I was old enough to want one, which is why my parents could not find one. Many, many years later I got an original 60's one. So here it is:

I would've been in Bond Heaven if I could've had such a thing when I was a kid...of course, it would not have survived to the present day... :#

    Very nice, DG B-)

I have the same sort of story, I always wanted a Bond action figure, so since I have been a big boy, I have been getting all the Bond 12" figures, Action Man, Sideshow, Mego, I have never opened them, mind you I dont think the Bond figures would stand the test of time like my trusty Action Man did :)) I remember trowing him out of my Nan's window in her flat and his Parrachute never opened :s but he was still alive :))

Yeah, I have a good portion of the Sidehow Toy Bonds and villains in un-opened packaging. In many cases I bought multiples, one to open, one to display and one to trade. The Sideshow Connery Bond is much better than the Gilbert Connery figure. It's much more poseable. However, you can't beat the Gilbert Bond for collectibility.

Donald - very nice - I ended up with James Bond and Odd Job as an offshoot of my collecting Gilbert's Man From UNCLE figures. I'll post up pictures when I've got spare batteries for the camera.

Whilst they're all great vintage items it's such a shame that Gilbert's bodies are so poor considering the articulation that GI Joe / Action Man achieved just over a year later. Imagine, they had the licence for the big three spy fanchise's at the time, Honey West, MFU and James Bond and the figures (especially considering their original $2.99 price tag and the relative economics of the day) are really rather poor quality.

Someone actually went as far as to say the quality of the toys and their limited playability was actually the definition of Toy abuse.

I notice you have a spare backplate there - I have a spare set of tanks from the rocket pack (no jets I'm afraid) if you'd like them.

Just give me a PM and we'll see what we can sort.

Right, time to go sort out some lesson plans for tomorrow.

    Take care all.

Amen to that. You are quite right about the all the Gilbert figures, including UNCLE and Honey West. Not the best compared to G.I. Joe and Action Man. However, you can't beat them for vintage collectibility. There was a vintage spy figure that was as poseable as Joe/AM. If memory serves it was called Double Agent and came with a whole host of accesories. I would not mind getting the spare set of tanks. Thanks for the offer and welcome to the fold.

Ah, Double agent Mike Hazard by Marx. Like Marx's Girl from UNCLE figure they seem to go for really silly money.

Managaed to swap two original Action Men for a Mark Hazard figure some years ago, a pile of extras came with him - he is currently sitting on my book case along with a Sideshow Sean Connery/007.

Sorry, that should be MIKE Hazard :)

Yep that's the one, Mike Hazzard. Been meaning to add one to my collection too. Enjoy it.
