Sunspel Blue Polo - Is it "dark" or "light" now?

I've been browsing some threads regarding the Sunspel blue polo and am confused.
Seems some have alluded to their being a slight color change. The pic on the Sunspel site looks quite dark, very Navy.... is the shirt like this or has it "lightened" up recently?
Any info is appreciated.

the one on the left is the current one and the one on the right is the first version.
this is the black sunspel polo
I have several of these Polo's the most recent purchased a couple of weeks ago and they are both dark blue. Compared to last years purchases (which have faded slightly) the new one's are probably the same or similar dark colour. These garments do fade and shrink if you're not carefull. Follow the cleaning instructions and don't use bleach based soap powders.
I recently received mine and have only washed it once. I didn't use a bleach-based detergent, but I
did use the powdered variety (as opposed to liquid) and I air-dried it. Should I use a liquid variety (of detergent), or does that not matter? Obviously, I would never use a bleach product.
Also, mine does seem to be a darker blue, for what it's worth, though i have nothing to compare it to.
Kind regards,
Craig
I have the newer, lighter blue version. When I wash it, I use a liquid detergent for dark colors (Woolite for Dark Fabrics), wash it on cold, and hang dry it as well. That helps it to keep its original size and shade of color.
I also run the collar and arm pit areas under cold running water for a few seconds before washing the shirt to help remove any sweat or deoderant residue.
And here's a still from "CR":
I'm the first to say "don't trust the colors you see on screen because there are many variables that affect the outcome of the colors - some of which are the film stock being used, the lighting, and the film processing. That's why there are always costume and wardrobe screen tests done before principal photography begins. But even I have to admit the Blue looks identical, in my opinion.
Kind regards,
Craig
Danjaq,
Thanks for the tips. I use regular Woolite all the time for other delicate clothes, I have to pick up some
of the Dark Fabrics version next time I go shopping. The final tip about running the collar and underarm areas under cold water first, is a new (but good) one. I'll try it next time.
I'm disappointed to say that I just bought the shirt and on only it's second wearing I was walking down a busy street and was too close to a telephone pole. I now have a nice puncture mark on the
arm---definitely not repairable. I can still wear it, but I ordered another one because I wouldn't wear
the damaged one out (it's fairly obvious) unless I wanted the I've been shot it the ark look!
But now that I have the expert opinions here... will end up ordering a blue once I get back from holidays.
As I said previously, I have been washing with cold water, however, (forgive me if I don't understand washing instruction icons) the label seems to indicate it should be washed with warm water (it specifically says 40º C). Is that a problem?
You can wash it in warm water as per the instructions, however in order to maintain the color over a long period of time, I always wash it in cold water and hang it up to dry.
As you already know (but we should always take the opportunity to warn others!) do not put it in the dryer! It will maintain the shape and color over a much longer period of time if you avoid the dryer!
NOTE: If you tend to wear the shirt often and especially during the humid weather, by all means follows the instructions and wash it in warm water (but maybe use a cold rinse). This will certainly help to remove any sweat stains, etc. but will also help to preserve the shirt!
My family was in the shirt business for a number of years. Washing shirts yourself and hanging them to dry extends the life of the shirt like you would not believe!
If you can bear to iron your shirts yourself you should - at least your most expensive (and certainly favorite) ones. Those machines at the dry cleaner and their over-starching really put the miles on them!
I think you want the polo feel like Daniel Craig you should buy small size. I buy medium size and I should return it because it was very big for me. I prefer slim fit. My measure is 39 inches. I'm very happy with S size.
They told me that people said the first dark navy was too similar to the black and they opted for a more 'French navy' shade of blue instead.
I hope this clears up why the colours are different.
"The colour of the Bond polo shirt has only changed in shade slightly. Due to these being manufactured from different batches of fabric and at different times, it is almost impossible to achieve an exact shade match, particularly as the first shirts were manufactured several years ago. The shirts we are currently supplying are a dark navy and very similar to those originally made."
I suggested if they did want a 'different' colour to at least keep also the 'darker' blue. However, they replied...
"it would not be possible to introduce ‘different shades’ of navy into the range."
Now I do hope this clears up why the colours are different.
Manufacturing 'tolerances'...
Albeit somewhat varied looking at the two shirts Christotheman shows...?!
PS: I just chuck mine in the wash with everything else coloured on 30c - and no probs!

Yes it is dark, but still not as dark as the screen seen version and earlier versions that Sunspel used to offer. They have discontinued that colour and will never make it again.
