I've yet to see Rocky V or Rocky Balboa---although I've heard good things about the latter and bad things about the former, so I'll withhold my verdict until I have. This is one of those franchises, like Dirty Harry, which I'm watching with my two sons in order to acquaint them with the Old School... B-)

You think Rocky IV is better then the original ? That movie was terrible. The three other previous films were good because they always had some mental block Rocky had to fight in order to defeat his opponents, it wasn't just about how strong you were physically. Here Rocky IV is nothing but straight foward crap, his friend dies and gets revenge. Everything about the film is just padding, even Rocky's motivation to fight was hamfisted. I believe the only enjoyable thing about the film was Micheal Pataki.

How come you rate Rocky Balboa so low ? That was one Stallone's finest moments as a director and an actor. Here we have the same Rocky be is older, more mature, and alone now that Adrian has passed on. Also a big factor was Rocky and the troubled relationship with his son.

    As for my list:

    1. Rocky
    2. Rocky Balboa
    3. Rocky III
    4. Rocky II
    5. Rocky IV
    6. Rocky V

I like your style Loeff - it's important to educate the young about real film stars and proper films. Dirty Harry is as good a start as any.
Do they know who Steve McQueen or Charles Bronson are yet?

    1. Rocky - The rest pale in comparison. :)

The rest are entertaining but nothing special and part IV is horrific. (I have yet to see Rocky Balboa)

    Hmmm... tough choice there, mate.

I would have to go for Rocky 3

I've always thought that Rocky III was a perfect end to the film series. That last shot is classic B-) Part IV... :#

I've seen about an hour of Rocky Balboa on cable TV, and I'm intrigued. I'm going to Netflix it...
