Daniel Craig has no doubt made 007 more real life.
I read a lot of topics on this site about Rolex or Omega etc etc..... Having worked in the security industry for some eight yearsand been in situations that have sometimes been violent and ended up facing armed or unarmed person or persons alone........some people seem to miss the point i.e ..... it does not matter if your precious Rolex or Omega gets scratched or if you even own one or not....and if your precious watch gets scratched doing your job you do not rush out and buy a new one to replace it or just keep it at home to gather dust ....! What is more important is your watch is a tool and it is reliable , water resistant ...automatic so your battery wont run out when you need it the most ...water resistant so when you are out side in torrential rain for twelve hours it wont steam up so you cant see the time...................and again when you are outside in the dark with just the light of the moon you can see the time.....that it is tough incase it has to stand up to the bumps and scrapes if you have to end up in a violent situation and someone is intent on hurting you to get away from you ....that the watch will not just break and fall off your wrist . A diving watch covers all those bases so it is not such a shock to find James Bond turning to Omega or Rolex! Rolex will probably be taken off you if you are hurt because it is recognized as a wealthy expensive watch more so then Omega .......though this is changing .......
At the end of the day a watch ...a phone......a torch ....a uniform .......boots ....shoes ......a suit.....a knife ......they are just tools to do a job ....yes they have to be washed cleaned and polished charged sharpened to keep them ready smart for use...... It is really not important what make it is ..... What is important is that it is reliable dependable and works when it is needed to....it fits the purpose.......I find the new Daniel Craig James Bond more true to life he gets hit he bleeds his equipment gets bashed about ......look at the Casino Royale Omega planet ocean they auctioned at the ended of filming.....it was scratched and dirty banged about but still looked the part and Omega still gave the purchaser a full warrenty on the watch.........this is what is important , also i do not carry two watches to do my job so my Omega has a steel bracelet so it looks great in suits or casual clothes a rubber bracelet does not look so good in a suit at a smart function....!!!!.. so my watch is at home in all the roles my job has given me over the years ...jeans (casual) ...suit (smart) or uniform i.e . stab jacket boots and fatigues...... i even train in the martial arts wearing my watch after all when i am in the street if ever i am in a violent situation i will not be given time to take my watch off ....What i guess i am trying to say hear is buy a thousand pound suit ,Watch or phone that you are scared gets damaged is not James Bond...............! as the films come and go the watches ...phones change......................but what matters most is not which watch phone you own .....but which ever tool (watch phone etc) you own is reliable and something you trust in not something you keep at home so it wont get scratched or something you rush out to buy a new one because it has a small scratch on it... or someone else has a new Rolex swiss army lazerbeam watch so you got to have one....Be proud of whatever you own a suit is a suit at the end of the day and given a violent situation if you unlucky to ever be attacked no matter who made the suit it is going to end up torn or ruined and if your mind is thinking oh my god my suit ......your mind should be on the situation ...... it does not have to be a Tom Ford .........as long as it is smart and functional and does the job......!
I have Praise for mantis ...his idea of Bond on a budget is a way to go I wont be buying expensive suits i buy what i can afford and dress casual for some jobs uniform or suits for others.......!
Smart or casual you should be able to blend in to any situation....!
The New James Bond shows this in detail by operating in smart or casual situations and no gadgets that are not avalible to purchase by normal people ....no lazer beam watches and jet packs that we just happen to have in the car or 4x4 . He uses real tools. and most of all the real tool that we have all been given his brain and good tools (watches phones clothes) to make the job easier and of course makes the most of other tools and situatrions that may come to him along the way.....
Thanks everyone and i hope this helps when you are trying to copy the Bond look............. if its going to break your heart if it gets ripped ....or scratched or it will .........never be worn and used do you really need it....? FUNCTION AND KEEPING IT REAL IS SO IMPORTANT..............AND IT IS NOT SO IMPORTANT IF IS SCRATCHED OR NOT.......... as long as it is RELIABLE AND DOES THE JOB. dont only get the Bond look but apply the bonds greatest tool your mind ..... so if ever a situation god forbid happens to you .....you wont have a broken heart about that expensive suit you purchassed being ripped but you were able to consentrate on saving yourself or your loved ones from being attacked.....!

I have owned a Rolex Submariner for the past 16 years, which has been an exceptional timepiece. Recently I've been looking towards a new Omega Seamaster Chronograph. I like the look of it and am thinking about buying one not because my Rolex hasn't kept me in good stead (although it can attract a lot of unwanted attention, especially in poor countries or at custom check-points) but because of the ever increasing amount of cocks who seem to be wearing them. Admittedly a lot you see are fakes, but every car showroom has a flashy salesman brandishing a gleaming Submariner, infact any salesman in general, boardroom stylised idiots shouting into cellphones, fifty-something self-employed builders - infact a whole new customer base devoid of taste.
I think many Omegas look a little more understated.
