Hi there!

I was sorting out old photos and found this. Perhaps the earliest Bond related photo of me as 7yr old and there's also my 5 years younger little brother.
This one's from the year 1985, when A View To A Kill premiered in Finland 8th of august. I saw the movie itself later in beginning of year 1986.
Maxi size movie poster was the first "Bond" collectible, that i had and it's a shame i don't have it anymore.
At the time i was 7 years old, i had seen almost all released Bond movies. Someone might think, was it suitable for 7 years old kiddo?

Now as a father i'd say...hmm....Absolutely not! :)) Anyway, i watched those films always "under surveillance" with my mother and stepfather. If there's someone to blame about me becoming a bondfan, of course my mother :))...about a year before, when we lived together and she was a single mom, just one day when i asked something about spies 'n stuff, she told me about this secret agent from British Secret Service ( She's been regretting for doing that several times afterwards) :)) and that's where it all began. I learned to read before i went to 1st grade and the first book a did read was Dr. No, that book i still have in my collection. And on 3rd grade, when we started to learn english, teacher wanted anyone to have an international or more like english first and last name during the lessons, so on the first week a wanted to be Simon Templar, but guess what was my alias during the next upcoming lessons? :007) Name's Bond. James Bond.

Cheers to all!

well, I only have one "james bond collectible." Well, that's not true, technically I have two. Being the utilitarian I am, I usually have to be able to use the things I collect.

Wow, I didn't think Edmonton's hockey team was so popular... in Finland! Great story anyway, I don't want to hijack the thread with Canada stories... but fyi, Canada rocks.

If that's a picture of your PPK I'd take it back for a refund - that's a PP

Given that the pic came from here, I suspect it's just a "typo"....

Yeah, and if as a utilitarian you need to be able to use the things you collect, what the hell do you use a PP, or K or whatever its is, gun for????

Excuse my naivety but I'm a middle age English family man.

Of the four legged kind? We have these like wooden traps with springs which we bait.

Two legged? Should I call 911/999 now?

Those utilitarian are more "hands-on" so they either go at it with a stick, or their jotter pen, or use the ppk so they do that have to get off their couch. :)

I know it's a PP, but it's the closest picture of one I could find to my PPk (in style - "original" stippled black plastic grips and the "90° safety" that they took off in later models) and honestly most people cannot tell the difference anyway. It's nice to find somebody who knows what they're talking about.

Additionally, firearm collections are just like any other collections. It's just my collection goes boom. Also, I've had to use them before. Home invasions are so violent these days.

    Thanks mate,

As a matter of fact Edmonton Oilers hockey team was very popular in Finland, during the 80's. When Finnish professional hockey player Jari Kurri (right winger) arrived to the Oilers he was soon paired with Wayne Gretzky, a phenomenal Canadian centre. The duo of Kurri and Gretzky became one of the most prolific scoring tandems ever to play in the NHL.

    cheers,

On a semi related note, i also have an HK P7 PSP NDs. It's an earlier version of the P7M8 which Dr. Kauffman uses to threaten Bond in TND.

Same HK what Bond uses in at least one Gardner's novel - The Icebreaker :007)

The worst Bond memory i have is , back in the late 60s (i was around 4 or 5), we went to the flea market in Brussels with my parents and some of their friends . They also had a little boy my age .
When we arrived at the market, there was this box full of Corgi, Dinky and probably other die cast vehicles and both my friend and i where allowed to chose one car out of the masive box . Of course their son found a gold 007 aston martin and that's the one he choose , i was so pissed off that day (cries, ...) !!!!! I still have the golden Rolls Royce i choose ... oh well .
I had the Monkees mobile, the Batmobile, The Yellow submarine, never undesrtood why my parents never bought me a 007 car at the time ?
But my first 007 toy was the "Live and Let die" viewmaster ... and it is till in the collection .
