well, I have no interest in defending the seller and I have nothing to do with this project.
I have seen these ice guns (but have never purchased one) and I agree with Asp9mm, they are looking absolutely great!
ok, everyone is entitled to their opinion. i haven't actually seen this ice p99 in person as it were, but from what ppw306r is saying, they don't actually sound like anything decent. 'foreign' being stamped on the slide for instance doesn't give much confidence in the item, or its maker.
As far as I remember, he [the maker] put them on ebay for a very much lower amount than GBP 300,-- and if bids for the first items are going that high - so be it!
true, if an item starts low and goes for a high price, who's anyone to judge, obviously someone somewhere thought the item was worth it to them. the way ppw306r stated he was one of the idiots who paid £300, made it sound like £300 was the asking price. i only assumed from this that whoever made these items was charging £300 a time.
I truely admire the work, that you have been doing on the QoS Aston Martin, minigeff, but I am sure, that some quick guys will easily call your GBP 85 models similar, when they are not able to realize the amount of work which inside of them. I mean, you did not even make a cast for the model....
no, i didn't make a cast of the dbs models for a very good reason, it wasn't needed. as you say, some people did question why i charged £85, and i've explained pretty in depth as to why i charged that amount. the thing is with my work is i don't hagge over prices, i'll cost a job up and offer it at that price. i never force people to pay, and the ten people who did buy a dbs model haven't mentioned any problems with price. the only problems that did occur were the postal service breaking 2 cases, which i cant be held responsible for, can i?
If he told ppw3o6r, that the gun has been molded from the screen-seen one and this is really untrue, that's a completely different piece of toast.
i seriously doubt that an actual gun used in filming (from which the mould was taken for the ice p99, apparently) would have 'foreign' stamped' in the side. you wouldn't believe the amount of detail that goes into the bond films, and the crew don't use replicas. if bond is meant to be holding a p99, he will be holding a genuine p99, and not some 'foreign' replica.
from the info given in this thread, it is my opinon that the ice p99 wasn't cast from an original p99, let alone one actually used in filming.
when it comes to the price, i truely believe £300 is a bit expensive for what it is. it's not an original prop, its not even taken from an original prop, its not official merchandise either.
the other aspect of it is the actual process used to make such an item. i can assure you that once a pattern has been made (or in this case, a mould taken from a replica), the actual casting of the p99 is very simple and cheap. you could probably cast each gun for as little as £10. now when you're selling an item for £300 and it cost you only £30 or so to make it, thats a huge return. of course, one could argue that time is the most expensive commodity, but when you're casting something in a mould, you mix up your resin, pour it and then wait for it to cure, its not a very timely process.
if i ever buy an item, say a prop replica, when it comes to price i actually think about how long it would have taken to make, the materials used etc, and from that i'd get an opinion about if it was value for money.
i dont want anyone thinking i'm trying to discredit the maker of the ice gun, and i'm certainly not trying to steal his custom. all i'm saying is that imo, £300 is too much.
like you say bondtoys, if the ice p99 really is a cast taken from an original screen used p99, then maybe it would be worth the £300, but from what i've read, i very much doubt the authenticity.
it'd be interesting to hear straight from the maker whether the ice p99 was ever sold as a cast off the original, and if it was really sold at £300 each, but until we do, all we can do it speculate.
hope people get what i'm trying to say, and understand that as always, i'm just saying it how i see it. no offence meant to anyone who's bought the ice p99, or its maker.
I belive ppw 306r 110% and from what I remember the guy was nicked for selling this dodgy stuff as he was selling harry potter stuff aswell, and warners was not to pleased either.
I think mg's cars are outstanding and the £85 price tag is fine for sutch a nice and rare item, only 10 world wide, I think I was the first to jump on this project i think and I dont collect cars lol the guy is tallented very tallented.

quite true, and i'm not trying to discredit anyone, i just don't like to see fans over charged for an item.

the use of logos etc is not what i'm worried about. the main point i was raising with the £300 ice p99 was that imo the price is a bit steep.
