Magnoli TWINE Bilbao Suit

Hey folks!
For the past few months I've been working with Magnoli to create the Bilbao suit from the beginning of TWINE. The final product is great! It should be appearing on his site for public buy pretty soon, I think.

In the pic, I'm wearing Mag's suit, with the herringbone tie from Turnbull & Asser, Seamaster diver's watch, monk dress shoes and solid buckle belt. Pierce has a good 20lbs on me I'm sure, but I think the overall look is there!

The suit is made of 100% super 130's charcoal grey wool, and has all the basic details (3 buttons, double vent, flat front pants with cuffs, etc) and also the more subtle details of Brioni suits (tapered waist, lapel roll, narrower trousers). Hemming wanted all the Bond suits to have a hand-finished look to the suits, with things like pick stitching, floating canvas and working cuff buttonholes (read Dressed to Kill), so all those details have been included in this suit as well.

The fit is also otherworldly... I was nervous about measurements but in the end everything fit perfectly!

The great thing about this suit is that it pretty much has the same cut as almost all the other suits from the Brosnan-era flicks! You can order this in a sharkskin gray and you've got yourself an Azerbaijan suit. Or you can add in a ticket pocket, slant the side pockets, add a pleat or two and you're on your way to a Hamburg suit (give a take a few tweaks) :) I'll definitely be ordering more in the future...

Suit is now on my shopping list... sharkskin especially!

What are the proper cufflinks for this suit?
What are the other Magnoli Bond projects for the near future?

    Thanks and well done urhash!

That looks really great, urhash! Looks like you've got all the details down pat. You look like you've just stepped right off the screen after making a miraculous escape with a suitcase full of money :007) . Chalk up another fine piece from Mr. Magnoli.

If I had to make one small (constructive) criticism, it would be that the lapels look just a little bit too wide for screen accuracy's sake, but other than that, a very fine looking suit. I am feeling rather envious.

Wear it with pride, my friend.

    saint-antoine,
I don't have the correct cufflinks... the ones on screen are these Star Trek logo shaped silver cufflinks that apparently are not from Dunhill. As for other Magnoli projects in the pipeline... I don't really know. I'm not involved in any at the moment, although the Bilbao cufflinks have (coincidentally enough) been talked about with a few people here as a future possibility.

Indiana, thanks! :) I wouldn't disagree with you about the lapels. I've already submitted a small list of changes that Indy should make for future customers of the suit, which should hopefully benefit you all. And of course, he can make any other specific changes you wish when ordering!

Would be nice to get a replica set of these cufflinks. They seem to be a rather unusual set for even Brosnan Bond to wear, but as I said to you previously, they are the only piece of Star Trek-esque equipment that you can wear out in public without being beaten up :D .

Really looks great on you. Nice, very nice. Thanks for sharing. Indy Magnoli did a fantastic job. Thanks Indy for supporting the Bond guys too.

That looks fantastic. I've been looking to get a new suit...

    Cheers guys! -{

My next order will probably be sharkskin gray or a dark french navy blue like from GE. Hopefully someone else here will do work on choosing the correct fabric and color with Indy so when the time comes I won't have to. :D

Is this suit similar to the Craig Brioni suit from CR?
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Yes it is. You'll need to work with Magnoli to design a vest though, and I'd also check on a few things as well (does the CR suit have a ticket pocket? etc). And of course, choose the appropriate fabric with the right weight and pattern.

Btw folks, I've been working with Magnoli to further improve the lapels on future iterations of the suit... so anyone thinking of purchasing this will benefit from that. :)

Urhash, I can say with a much certainty as there is that the CR Finale 3-piece did not have a ticket pocket. Seen a couple of BTS pictures showing the right-side of the jacket, and no dice.

When I asked about the CR suit, I was referring to the regular two piece Craig wore in Montenegro before playing Le Chiffre.

Or is that suit the same as the three piece from the end, just without a vest?

The Montenegro suit is a little different (I've discussed this before with Monza, I think). It's a 3-button suit but the lapels are cut a little differently from the typical suits (e.g. most of Brosnan's suits, the CR finale suit), giving it more the appearance of a 2-button suit with longer lapels.

Some other minor characteristics might be different but the Craig movies are not generally my area of interest.
