I have been anticipating this for a fairly long time. Looks like it's closing in for a solid release date. :D

I'm totally there for this one. The original is a classic, and I'm not crazy about fiddling with classics. I just hope they do it justice. If they go the digital FX overdose route, it'll be a crying shame :#

    Which verison ?

Anyway I know their is probably going to be several CGI effects. As long as the acting and the story moves along smoothy. Though I am not exactly thrilled by Joe Johnston directing.

I'm a big fan of all the Universal classics. Lon Chaney Jr's would be my favourite...but I enjoyed Werewolf of London, with Henry Hull, as well...and Curse of the Werewolf, the Hammer film starring Oliver Reed, is also great.

It seems a very common mistake these days to pump tons of cash into the CGI budget, and give the actual script short shrift. If they're smart, they'll keep it psychological and suspenseful until (almost) the third act.

I'm drawing a blank on the name of the director...but I seem to remember being glad it was someone with some talent. I hope I'm way off base with my concerns about CGI as a crutch...but my moviegoing experiences tell me otherwise.

EDIT: Just saw that you named the director. Joe Johnston. Hmm.

I stand by my CGI worries :#

I am praying he would have that flash of compitence he gets sometimes. I was rather impressed by the trailer.

I liked the trailer. Joe Johnston is a fairly reliable genre director, but this looks like a film that will start out atmospheric, then turn into a load of CGI. Still, it looks better than many of the other blockbusters we have had to endure this year. I doubt anybody could match Lon Chaney Jr's performances as Larry Talbot in the Universal pictures though.

Well, unlike Stephen Sommers's The Mummy, it looks like this film is actually based on the original movie. This seems to be more effects-laden and shock-heavy than was the quiet and subtle original, and I'm not sure those are good things.

Yes this one clearly looks alot more action oriented but then again, today's trailer's can be very decieving. PUBLIC ENEMIES for example was not nearly as action heavy as the trailers suggested.

Good cast though, Hopkins, Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Geraldine Chaplin is in there too, so they should be watchable.

You're forgetting Hugo Weaving, who much to my delight, is also in the film.

I think the trailer looks great; I love the cast (especially Del Toro and Weaving), I love the plot, and whilst it probably may not be as good as the original, I'm not concerned about that. BTW, I don't know much about Johnston except that I loved Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and The Rocketeer remains an extremely underrated superhero film. I don't know how well Johnston will handle a supernatural horror film like this, but the trailer certainly impresses me, and it should be noted that I've been waiting for this film ever since it was announced. :D

I think those films are very good as well but the problem is Johnston has some preatty lame films to his name like The Pagemaster *gag*, and Jurassic Park III *barf*.

Well, I haven't seen those two films, so I can't comment. However I'm mainly going on the basis of the trailer, the cast and the plot. I love the trailer, I think the cast is fantastic, and the plot's classic; you can't go wrong with it. :D
