Who influences you?

After watching a design programme on Sky 3, one of the comments of the presenter to the 3 finalists, was 'you have really inspired me' - and it got me thinking to this question,
Who inspired you, or influenced you, or you just looked up to when you were either growing up, or now? (And to make it more fun, I'm asking for one real, and one fictional character, as one of my influences is a character on a TV show) So, here's mine:
Real: Clare Francis - as an avid sailor, and fortunate enough to have parents who loved to sail, I remember reading her first book, 'Come Hell or High Water' I was amazed at her courage and determination to be one of the first few woman to sail the Atlantic single handedly.
Having sailed the Atlantic twice myself (not single handed mind, but with my parents in their boat) I have always held a secret dream to sail it single handedly myself - and I've had many a conversation with my father about how to kit the boat out etc. It hasn't happened yet, but maybe one day.....
Fictional: Carrie Bradshaw ) (to those people who don't know who she is, she is the main character in Sex and The City) her character is truly unique, and quirky, yet seemingly so real - as her love affair with Mr Big, which lasts for over 7 years, questions her integrity, her values, but she never gives up on the dream of 'The One'
so.....

Fiction: Garfield - Hey, who wouldn't want to have a lifestyle like his?
Fictional: Malcolm Reynolds from FIREFLY. true, he's got a gruff exterior, but truly, he's loyal to the bone and will do ANYTHING for one of his crew. He's also got a note of authority that I've really got to start practicing. I forgive too easy, and he doesn't. I'm looking for a middle ground, so if I try to be like him, it'll balance out my "niceness" in this area and be prefect. Plus, he's a sci fi space ship pilot. who doesn't want to be one of those?

Grow up--this kind of juvenile behavior will not be tolerated here.
Fictional charcter would be James Bond, although my life is no where near as glamorous or dangerous as Bonds, I do at times, when faced with a daunting task that is somewhat frightening, tell myself James Bond wouldn't be intimidated.
