The teaser is out. I liked the original, so did not take it well when I heard they had decided to remake it. After hearing good reports on the realistic make-up and the scripts etc I'm actually looking forward to this remake. Back to his brutal roots and away from the joke he became, Freddy is also being played by Jackie Earle Haley from Watchmen, so that's a major plus. He's a bloody good actor.

    I "got lucky"* in 1984 after catching NOES at the theater.

    So i seriously doubt, er, that any "remake", can um, live up to that? :D

    * Too much information?

    PS. Jackie Earle Haley to my generation was always the cig smokin', motor ped rollin', bad news bear.

    The original Nightmare on Elm Street was a masterpiece; one of the best horror films of all time, and arguably Wes Craven's last great film. While I might be seeing this remake- it doesn't look like a Saw/Hostel film or the Halloween remake so it probably won't be all that unpleasant- what does concern me is that we see the lynching, whereas in the original, we only found out the origin story later on in the film. I much prefer the sense of mystery that was created by the earlier film. Anyway, while it's not on my 'films to see' list, I probably will see this film.

    I don't find Bay to be as offensive as many other people seem to (I loved The Rock), however I do find it funny that he would produce a horror film. He has never directed a horror film, and as such, his producing of one really surprises me.

And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
