Danbury Mint James Bond Aston Martin DB5

Here are pictures of my Danbury Mint Aston Martin DB5 pictured with the Dave Worrall tome "The Most Famous Car In The World" and supplement. Not sure if the Danbury Mint DB5 is still available, but it's certainly available on Eprey and is a nice little piece to add to your collection. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing the pictures DG.

I think, that Danbury Mint doesn't make these beauties anymore. I read some article from net about these models, that

said the molds where destroyed and it's been long discontinued model since the end of the year 2001. So i'm very happy to

own one silverbirch db5 and also the gold plated one. :D I think the first they did was silver "statue" of DB5. I saw one those

on Ebay couple of months ago.

Unfortunately when I was about to show a reporter this view with my car, the door came away in my hand :( (the "hinge" fractured) - anyone know what type of "glue" I should use to repair it?

Yep, I think you're right. There was a silver plated version and of course the gold plated version that you mentioned. I remember when they came out, it took me quite a while to finally break down and buy one. Glad I did. Please post pictures if you can.

Depends on how bad it is. If it's a clean break you can probably use super glue (Krazy Glue). If it's not you'll probably have to use epoxy.

DG , I think that the Danbury Mint DB5's where some of the best ever produced , especially the detail they went into. Like Teppo I am fortunate to own both the Siver and Gold versions and glad I got them when they were first produced , at reasonable prices. Dave Worrall's book is an excellent piece of work and well written, if you can ,get the harback version , not many produced so worth getting your hands on if you have the chance.

Hi there! Here are few pics of the gold plated Danbury Mint Aston Martin DB5 with custom made frame:

Just took it out of box, where it has been for a while now. It's nice item to own, but in my opinion the original silverbirch

    db5 is still the best.

    Cheers,

Very nice Teppo. I love that display, and it looks like you've coupled it with a Corgi Icon Connery/Bond figure too. I have the same one. Very, very nice and thanks for sharing.

Here's a image of the Danbury Mint "statue" DB5:

Click on the thumbnail to be taken to a larger view.

Basically its a die-cast pewter "replica" finished on the outside in silverplate. They're comparatively rare but not terribly accurate (the roof -- and even the seats -- pretty clearly copied from the Corgi version) which is odd given that the model included a booklet of Stears original blueprints for actual car. I would put the scale at about 1:36. Funny that they would eventually then come to be known for the highly accurate 1:24 edition.
