Thanks for the update! I've been waiting for Magnoli to release this one!

EDIT: Thought I'd post the link to take you directly to the tie: http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/champagne-tie-ties-p-321.html

I am anxiously awaiting someone's review on this tie. I have one of the TFs and love it. Not sure from the pictures if the tie is the correct pattern. The tf one is very textured (3d).

Due to moving I have not been on the forum much but I am delighted to see this tie is now a reality from Magnoli.

Will be ordering one at the end of the month :))

    Anyone bought it yet?

    The jackets and ties I've purchased from Magnoli have all been of the highest quality and I believe, to the best of my research, accurate reproductions. The "Champagne" tie has been my favorite of all of the great DC ties (though I'd love to see Magnoli do the CR "train" tie). I was slightly surprised when I received the Magnoli Champagne tie. On screen, it appeared to be a silvery-gold color, very much like the color of champagne. The Magnoli tie's colors within the very small pattern are more brown and gold, with the blended color being more of a tan. I haven't seen yet on Blue Ray (but will tonight; bought the player and QoS today!), but I have absolute faith in Indy's reliability. Incidentally, the Tom Ford original tie is available in the U.S. but in different colors for this year, i.e. brown and purple. -{

If anyone has received one, throw on a grey suit and take a picture!

Does anyone else think that the Bolivia suit is brown?

I believe this was discussed in detail in another thread, even to the type of fabric, and confirmed with authority that it is a midnight blue with a charcoal gray element.

I think RAND is referring to the suit Bond is wearing when he lands in Bolivia with Mathis, when he meets Fields in the airport. Though it has been discussed before, and I can't remember if we came up with anything, but I do know that dark brown and taupe were suggested.

With those newer captures/photos, the suit does seem to appear more brown, and would go along with the brown/champagne tie. Bond seems to have better co-ordination between his suit and tie colors in this movie. The problem is that the suits are all made from a wool-mohair blend; mohair is too delicate to use alone, so fabric has to also incorporate wool. Mohair has a slight sheen to it, which is the first complication -- it can appear differently depending on lighting and viewing angle. I have a Brioni dinner jacket with a mohair blend, and you can see a slight shine if someone takes a flash photo, but it appears matte and darker without a flash. The second problem is being blended with wool means a different color can be mixed into the fabric making a specific color even more difficult to identify. Someone should try to find a Tom Ford suiting fabric swatch book and see if they can find it in there.

Hello again. Thanks BuckMcNaked, I was indeed referring to the Bolivia airport suit.
    David Blaine should wear that suit....now it's brown...now it's grey! :))

Then the question is would you want to match what was actually used or the way everyone thinks it appeared on film? Because no one saw that film who didn't believe that suit was Brown.

I like that it would go with Brown or a midnightblue/charcoal but If I were trying to match the look in the film I'd go with Brown. I don't think I'd wear a brown tie like that with a true gray suit. I don't think that would look right.

    Anyone else have an opinion?

I'm afraid this picture doesn't show the colours very well at all, but anyone who wants a swatch of the fabric should try to get this costume card. Other than the PTS and Tosca suits, the other suits in the film have a distinct vertical/horizontal weave. The Bolivia/flight to Bolivia suit is definitely brown. However, it's made up from two different thread colours, which is why the fabric can look slightly different depending on the scene lighting. The vertical weave is either a very dark brown or possibly very dark grey, but I think it's brown. The horizontal weave is lighter, more bronze coloured.

I was thinking of ordering the 'Bolivian suit' from baron boutique. It comes with the suit and tie.

Ask to see some pictures of his tie before you order, to make sure it has the right colour & pattern. I'd be interested to see how the Baron replica compares to Magnoli's.

Does magnoli do the Bolivian suit?
  • BuckMcNakedBuckMcNaked Missouri, USAPosts: 152MI6 Agent
He has a QOS suit, and since pretty much every suit in QOS is the same, just a different color (Sans the tux), you could just get in a dark brown.

Thanks for shedding some light Holden. I'm glad to hear it's brown or at least brownish. With all the blues and grays that are in the films it's nice to see some alternate colors now and then.

If anyone else had that swatch it would be cool to see a high res scan.

Does anyone have pictures of the Magnoli tie? If someone has the TF, that would be such a treat, because we could see how much it is close or different. But a ot of people say they bought the Magnoli... and yet, no pictures!

I only found pictures of the Tie Bar one! And I cannot compare them to anything, because there is nothing else...

    Thanks!

I don't have any pics of Magnoli's copy, but richi717 was lucky enough to get the real Tom Ford champagne tie from TieDeals.com: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/34008/found-qos-champagne-tie/
