QoS Polo shirts - Tom Ford or Sunspel?

Sunspel have a new website and in the 'Sunspel on screen' section they say that Daniel Craig is wearing they're Q75 polo shirt.

I thought that Tom Ford made the polo shirts for QoS?

Here's the link: http://www.sunspel.com/about/archives/490#more-490

If anyone has seen the production used polo shirts maybe they can shed some light to this one please.

this has been discussed up and down before.

Just use keywords "Sunspel", or "Tom Ford" and you'll find plenty of informations.

    The short story:
    CR = Sunspel
QoBt = Tom Ford, albeit Sunspel supplied the production with some shirts in advance.

That is Most interesting.... As there was much written about TF copying Sunspel shirts after they were forwarded, but nothing ever substantiated. And that would really need someone on set....
Actually, this up-dated Sunspel website Really IS something....
Note the chase sequence, where it is quoted "Daniel Craig in the opening scene wearing the 007 t-shirt", BUT we all know he's wearing a t-shirt with red and brown across the sleeve, cause I too have a costume swatch with this detail.... And I don't think it was Sunspel..... And there's the claim to Mollaka too....!
Gonna be a phone call in the am......! :v
These days it takes three kills...!

    Well, it all depends.

I'd not take the Sunspel webpage as a reference. They probably did not care to update the QoS infos.

Regarding the grey Madagascar scene (under) T-Shirt. An explanation may be, that there have been 2 different grey shirts been used: In the Studio shots (from where we can see Dc with the non-Sunspel shirt with the red stripe) and the location shots.
    The grey T-shirt here:
    http://www.sunspel.com/about/archives/466

looks to me very much like Sunspel.

Equmen made the undershirt featured in the Madagascar scenes. To my knowledge, that model (with the stripes on the sleeve) is no longer available.

How do you know it was Equmen?

Sorry, I misspoke (typed?). I was basing it on what I had read on this thread:
    http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/30402/the-madagascar-undershirt/
But, obviously, I was wrong nothing was confirmed. I apologize.

Simon, you mentioned in the other thread that you knew who the manufacturer was but didn't post the details.

Are you willing to share your information please?

I looked deeply the Haiti fight scene in Blue Ray and the polo worn by Bond during the fight before he wears the Y3 Jacket is definitely a Sunspel. I just do not know if blue or black but I would tent to say black. The one worn in Bolivia is TF in blue colour. I have both and the TF has no front pocket and softer collar like the Sunspel. During the fight you can clearly see the front pocket and also that the collar is different than the TF. The one in Haiti is the Sunspel one.

When I visited the Sunspel shop last December I spoke with them about the polo shirts being Tom Ford, they said that when they saw QoS they thought the Haiti polo shirt was without doubt one of theirs.

The key word in that statement is 'thought'. Sunspel are becoming famous within our circle for being blinkered and slightly biased towards the best truth for their business. A couple of members here have screen worn shirts from these scenes and they are all Tom Ford. In fairness to Sunspel though, they are direct and utter blatant copies of their shirts.

The screen used polo from TF HAS a pocket. Gents, the shape and feel of the fabric is different...both dark blue. Speak to Dominique at Sunspel...he KNOWS they were not Sunspel.

AND thats OK, because they were Sunspel in CR, and that is special.

Be nice to see 'em! Come on you secretive members, lets see those goodies!

I guess sources and bona fides for them would end the debate for those still unconvinced about the issue.

Additionally, it does no harm to read precisely, what Sunspel states on their webpage:

"When Daniel Craig wore this Sunspel polo in Casino Royale, it gave him an air of edgy, dangerous sophistication."
"And then most high profile of all, Sunspel starred on Daniel Craig in ‘Casino Royale’. The biggest action Bond of them all wears Sunspel polos and t-shirts throughout the movie, and you have to say they suit him. Indeed, Sunspel suits Bond, no doubt about it."

    In previous statements, Sunspel claimed
"Sunspel again provided clothing for (...QoS )Daniel Craig for use both in front of the camera and behind it on set. We made long staple superfine Egyptian cotton t-shirts and our now legendary Q75 open weave polo shirt."

    - which leaves room, that they may have been used and seen in the movie - or not ;)

But what is the advantage to "winning" the debate? In the scheme of things some will believe and some wont. There is no reward for winning this one...and I believe any members that might own screen used clothes from recent films just remain private about the ownership of these pieces, as many collectors do about certain pieces.

I guess for the sake of accuracy? To finally convince the naysayers (I am NOT one, I should point out) that one brand is accurate, and one isn't?

Don't think it's a case of winning, Dave, just a case of "proving" which is correct for those that doubt, once and for all. There's "reward" in that, surely?

well, some members had bad experience showing screen used or accurate items, which have then been immediately copied by forum members or other companies.

I'd like to recall what happened with the Maddy shirt as an example.....

Not to mention the endless emails and PMs asking to sell. Remember also that alot of items that make it into collectors hands, may not have been officially released from the set by Eon etc, and that some people here may still work for those people and be dropping themselves in it. And those that were given as gifts from the set are usually given discreetly so as not to upset other people they know who may not have been given stuff. It's a small world in the Bond community and to flaunt these treasures may jeopordise getting anymore from the same source.

So Bond might have worn a Sunspel on camera in QOS? the Polo in Haiti and Bolivia look like the same TF one to me.

No, definately not. Only Tom Ford was seen on screen in QOS. Seems he had the monopoly for that film X-(

When Bond fills up his DBS at the ol' broken down gas station in Olkalhoma and then gets some road side bar-b-que he is clearly wearing a TF shirt. You can tell, because when he spills his Mountain Doo on it, the shape of the pocket is clearly visible.
