I'm only going to say my top five:
    1. Quantum of Solace
    2. You Only Live Twice
    3. The World is not Enough
    4. The Living Daylights
    5. Goldeneye

Quantum of Solace Number 1 - HOLY COW!!!!!! But I am glad to see You Only Live Twice ranked so high on your list. After Goldfinger, YOLT is my favorite Connery Bond film.

And why shouldnt The Living Daylights be up there? Timothy Dalton was a good Bond. I wish there would have been a third movie with him before Goldeneye

QOS was such a fun movie simply because it did not have many quiet scenes and was almost continuous action sort of like Live Free or Die Hard. But I guess some people aren't like that with what they want out of a Bond movie: vodka and girls.

I think that the collaboration of Young, Connery, and Hunt added something to the Fleming foundation, and produced the (IMHO) definative film Bond. Thus my ranking of the films:

    1. From Russia With Love
    2. Thunderball
    3. Dr. No
    4. Goldfinger
    5. OHMSS
    6. CR (Craig)
    7. QoS (another fine job, maybe some tweaks will make 23 even better)
    8. License to Kill (Dalton mastered Fleming's Bond, but I like a little Young influence in my Bond)
    9. The Living Daylights
    10. DAF (mostly because of Sean)
    11. You Only Live Twice (same as above, too much sci-fi, lots of reusable elements)
    12. Goldeneye (best script given to Pierce, get rid of laser watch)
    13. For Your Eyes Only (most down to earth Roger film)
    14. Tomorrow Never Dies (get rid of cable cutting feature/stunt, exchange BMW with Jaguar XJR to keep Fleming from spinning too much in his grave);)
    15. The World is Not Enough (trade BMW for Jaguar XKR same reason as above)
    16. LALD (too much comic relief)
    17. TMWTGG (too much comic relief)
    18.TSWLM (too much comic relief)
    19. Octopussy (you guessed it, too much comic relief)
    20. AVTAK (problems a plenty, and too much comic relief)
    21. DAD (many, many, problems, and an invisable car)
    22. Moonraker (other problems, but the Star Wars ending really kills the film)

Please excuse me for ranking all twenty two films.
  • bigbychoicebigbychoice United StatesPosts: 27MI6 Agent
You have definetly got the comic relief part right. Roger Moores movies were definetly full of comic relief. Plus the fact that Roger looks like hes gonna bust out laughing at any minute. All in all he was a good Bond though. No matter how terrible AVTAK and MR were.

I'm that crazy that I put AVTAK at the top. LALD is second, followed by a few other Roger Moore films such as OP and FYEO. They're really hard to rank for me, but the worst is DAD
    1 - LALD, 2 - AVTAK, 3 - LTK, 4 - OP, 5 - NTTD, 6 - FYEO, 7 - SF, 8 - DN, 9 - DAF, 10 - TSWLM, 11 - OHMSS, 12 - TMWTGG, 13 - GE, 14 - MR, 15 - TLD, 16 - YOLT, 17 - GF, 18 - DAD, 19 - TWINE, 20 - SP, 21 - TND, 22 - FRWL, 23 - TB, 24 - CR, 25 - QOS

I just don't get why AVTAK is bashed so much. I just love it, and always have a great time watching it. I would justify my case more, but I have done that lots in the past on this site. I guess I'm known on AJB for my AVTAK obsession B-)

?:) Did you pick these titles out of a hat or something? I know that your favourite film isn't among them, so were they simply the first five films that came to you?

They're my favourite films in random order, DS. In order, Thunderball is about 9th, while Dr No is 5th. Come on, keep up.

I know. :D But how did you select them? Did you put the titles into a box, and pull five out?

Not all of us file our faves by scratching permanent drying cement. (cough, Dan Same) :D {:)

Mine always fluctuate, but basically remain the same.

    THUNDERBALL
    GOLDFINGER
    DR NO
    FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
    TSWLM
    FYEO
    OP

The Connery classics for their faithful lterary adaption and beautiful color scheme.

The Moore's for their over the top tongue in cheek.
  • bigbychoicebigbychoice United StatesPosts: 27MI6 Agent
The Moore films were really tongue in cheek and i really enjoyed the sort of goofiness that they had to them. And mostly the extreme eighties-ness of them. The music scores in the background and the situations always make for a good time. But the Connery Bond will always top my list. I dont know if Thunderball will be my favorite (haha) but no one can deny the fact that Connery is THE James Bond. The half closed eyes, cigarette smoking, charisma with which he played Bond cant be replaced. Even in a more action packed Bond like todays movies, the charm rating goes a long way

    5. Casino Royale

Also, I would put Never Say Never Again in between 18 and 19.
    Hilly...you old devil!

OHMSS was not a bad movie. I just did not care for Lazenbys Bond. I thought it was all wrong and out of place. The story was good, but something about the way he portrayed him I just cant see.
