QoS Magnoli Tom Ford Overcoat (Final QoS scene)

I got the Tom Ford replica jacket from the last scene in QoS where Daniel Craig is talking to Judi Dench outside of Russia but wanted to check what everyone else thinks about this...

The jacket while fits a little tight, came out very nice. The only thing is that it seems too long. It is just about down to my lower ankles, roughly 6" off the ground. Seems w to low.

Any ideas on what the real/original is and where it sits? I'm 5'6" or reference.

I think sruz meant a pic of you wearing it, so we can see how long it is.

I think Magnoli's coat is way, WAY too long. Look at Magnoli's pictures.

I could not wear it, it's way too long for me. The TF one has the perfect length.

Aren't Magnoli items made to your measurements though so the coat would finish where you specify.

I'd love to see pics as well...debating between his and Baron's.
From the scene when DC is sitting in the chair in the apartment, it looks like the coat comes down between the calf and the knee.
I'm sure if you told Magnoli how long you want the jacket, it would come out right.

Well I guess you could ask him, but his basic model does seem to be very different from TF. And I don't know if TF has this thing on the back - I don't know if it has a proper name or..

It's the same at the back. Pictures posted in the thread below courtesy of Roikins:

If ordering from Magnoli, the thing I would have changed with that coat would be the length and ensuring the throat latch was unbuttonable/removable, as it is on the real jacket, as well as slightly thinner in width than the collar -- the Magnoli version seems to have it the same width as the collar, as opposed to being maybe .5" thinner.

Sorry to deviate the thread a little bit, but another worry I have is about the black TF cardigan.

    1. Here is the Magnoli one. I don't know what's the exact English word, but the collar, at the very top in the middle, is like a collage of 2 parts.

    2. This is the TF one. It doesn't have this collage effect, which bothers me.
    1BSnh0.jpg

    3. Look at the two pictures. I consider the lower part of the collar very different. There is some kind of wave/pique motif on the side and the shape of the collar at it's base (the lower part) is less round than Magnoli.

And the TF one was made out of 100% merino wool. It's official.

But the Magnoli looks a lot like the TF one and is very cheaper - even if it's not cheap - and I would like to buy it if those three details could be changed.

Do you think Magnoli would be able to understand and change the shape of the cardigan?

As far as the split in the collar is concerned, the TF has it, it's just off center, behind the left ear. If you look closely, you can see it. Just looked at some shawl collar pullover sweaters in the closet and they all seem to be this way.

Weave and shape can probably be adjusted. I think the difference in shape may be the angle and distance of the pic though.
  • KittlemeierKittlemeier U.S.Posts: 432MI6 Agent
Looking again it seems that the TF uses the same weave for the collar and the placket while the Mag uses a smoother ribbed weave for the collar starting at the top button.

Well I think that the split in the collar does make a difference because you may see it from behind and for me, all the cardigan I had this way were hitching me

As for the lower part of the collar, it really is different, it's not the angle.

    This is the Magnoli

This is the TF one. It's blue, but you'll get over it.

I would like to know if you think Magnoli would be able to change his pattern for me, the lower part of the collar and maybe the split..

To me it makes a difference

Never said the split wouldn't make a difference, just that it was there on both versions, albeit in a different place.

Looks like there is a small angle on the edge of the TF lower collar that is more smoothly rounded on the Mag. It starts a curve opening down at that point where the Mag continues on the same curve.

As far as whether he can make those adjustments, you should ask him. He seems very willing to please.

And I'll never get over that blue sweater. I'm truly damaged having seen it.

I know it wasn't very nice for me to do since you've been helping me all along. Here is a picture someone sent me of a black TF cardigan ;)

And you're right about the split, there is one on the TF but it's on the side of the collar. I'll try to email Magnoli

Here are pictures of the Baron Boutique Final Overcoat.

The collar seems different and the texture seems also different, maybe it's just the pictures.
