CR train/meeting with Mathis suit

Hi,

with this being my first post, let me begin by saying what a great site this is. It's been a pleasure reading thru all of the old/new posts and it's certainly been an education.

Since discovering it a few months ago (I know, shame on me for not posting before) I've bought the Persol 2720, ST Dupont diamondhead cufflinks and the Magnoli Montenegro tie.

Now I tought that it would only be fitting to have to suit that goes with the glasses/tie/cufflinks. Aka the one from the train ride and when Bond and Vesper meet Mathis for the first time.

I hope that posting the image is ok, if not please delete it.

I've emailed Indy and he thinks that he can start with the Quantum suit and make the necessary modifications.

Anyway, since there's a plethora of knownlege/expertise at hand here, any details that I should pay particular attention to ?

Indy seems to think that the colour is closer to Midnght blue in the movie while it looks like a dark grey to me. What do you think ?

Thanks for the help

This is interesting... the train suit seems charcoal gray with white pinstripes to me (worn with a white self stripe shirt and a burgundy tie with some kind of circled white dots pattern) although he wears a plain navy or midnight blue suit when he arrives at the casino (with a light blue self stripe shirt and the blue tie now know as the Montenegro tie)... So 2 differents suits, 2 different shirts and 2 different ties...

    Anyone know more?

    saint-antoine,

thanks for pointing that out. I did notice the different ties but the suits could be different as well. As I do have the blue montenegro tie, maybe I should go with Midnight Blue.

What about in the scene at the outdoor cafe' ?

http://a.videodetective.com/TitleDetails.aspx?publishedid=753162 not sure it helps, but watch it and get through your workday anyway. This would be the Brioni suits?

    ExpatJB:

Thanks for the link. I'm also watching CR on my big LCD TV and I've found this site with lots of screen captures:

    Train: http://screenmusings.org/CasinoRoyale/index_10.htm

    Cafe': http://screenmusings.org/CasinoRoyale/index_11.htm

I'm still not sure if the suit is blue or gray.

You're right about the original suit most likely being a Brioni.

I'm going for dark grey. But more importantly dont you love Italy? Man, the are around the lakes is great.

You know, I'd never thought it was anything other than blue - and meant to be the same worn the following day, railways station to hotel, drinks withe Mathis, etc. I'd sort of liked the way Lindy Hemming started to have Craig-Bond more realistically wear clothes more than once.

But you know, you guys could be right. Two suits. One blue, one charcoal.

Now when's Indy gonna do that tie...?

I'd always thought that the train suit was a black/midnight blue with same color stripes. I would never have guessed charcoal, but color blindness does run in my family a bit...

All I know is that it's really difficult do determine the right colour from a non-calibrated computer screen or TV.

As of right now I'm tending more toward what Indy suggested, aka Midnight Blue.

I'm hoping that someone who has the actual cloths samples, from the production, can chime in.

Definatelly not midnight blue... why have Bond wear a midnight blue suit with stripes and right after a navy plain suit... if a clothing change was in order it seems logigal to go with a different clour scheme... hence: charcoal with pinstripes...

For what its worth I always thought that the suit was a dark blue as well. Linda Hemming made a point in CR to dress DC is blue clothing other than his tux. Even the seemingly black Alfani shirt from the Bahamas is a dark blue in person according to those who could find them.

First: Alfani shirt is black... I should know coz I own one...

Second: I still maintain the train suit is charcoal with white stripes and not navy... Like I wrote before: why have Bond wear a midnight blue suit with stripes and have him wear a plain navy suit next... if a clothing change was in order it seems logical to go with a somewhat different colour scheme... furthermore, he wears a navy pinstripes 3pc suit in the final scene of CR. What would be the logic in having him wear a 2pc navy blue suit in pinstripes earlier in the film?... I go with: charcoal with pinstripes...

This thread http://ajb007.co.uk/topic/33642/cr-bahamas-casino-shirt-color/ and some others had referenced the shirt as being a shade of blue. Like I said though I have never seen one in person. As far as the suit goes; your theory is logical. It would make sense for them to switch up the colors.
