7 of all mankind jeans, Mercer, standard fit. Sizing please!

Hi all, I have a pair of the 7 jeans in mercer, standard fit. These are in size 32. I have noticed that they have now got another pair in their newer line-up, without the blue button and twin belt loops at the back. I would like a pair that was roomier in the thigh, more of a comfort fit. Considering going up to a 33 or 34 to get that fit. Wondering if anyone has ( new or older type, presumably the same cut?) in these sizes that could measure width across the knee and across mid thigh so i can compare them to my 32's? As a guide, on mine the knee width is 8.5 inches across and the thigh is 10.5 across, thanks in advance, Brixmis.

I normally wear a size 32 in jeans. When I purchased my pair I originally tried on a size 32 and they were skin tight. The 33 fit perfectly in the thighs and seat but the waist was slightly large. So what I did was have my tailor take the waist band in a little bit. Unless you are very tall you will want to get these tailored for length anyway as they only come in one length (34). Now they fit me perfectly and cost me only about $25.

Thats very good info Bentley, bought mine mail order. From what you say there is a significant difference in sizing up to 33. I did'nt want to order a size up and have similar dimentions in the thigh, but with a bigger waist. Failing further info, I think I will go ahead and order the 33's. Thanks again Bentley, Brixmis

    Hi BRIXMIS,

Do you mind me asking where you ordered you 7's from as I'm looking for a pair.

They only have size 34 upwards now, think I snagged the last 33's. If you put 1115NOV in the discount box you will get 15% off everything, Brixmis

Just to add, the picture shows the original screen accurate type, with the double belt loops at the back, but i believe from another post that the ones for sale are the newer type that have more conventional loop spacing and without the blue button. I'm not bothered about that, but thought i'd mention it.

You got yours from Tobi, so you're saying they don't have the exact jeans anymore (blue buttons/rivets, double back loop) , correct? I bought mine on-line from 7 this summer and they
didn't have the exact QoS style, but I thought Tobi might still have some.

My original ones I bought mail order in the UK, they were screen accurate. On the Tobi site they have pictures of screen accurate versions, but I remember reading a previous post where someone confirmed that Tobi did not have this version in stock. Presumably using the old 7 promo shots. Anyway, expecting the newer type from Tobi, if its the older, so much the better. I will let you know when they arrive, cheers, Brixmis

The pair I picked up from Tobi a month or so ago - on the advice that the Standard Mercer were being discontinued! - were the non-blue button, non-double belt loop variety.

Re: QOS Jeans worn by Bond in Bolivia00 Aussie. Let us know if you receive the correct version. I e-mailed Tobi a couple of days ago as follows

    e-mail:

I see you've just re-stocked with the 7 For All Mankind Standard Straight Leg Jeans in Mercer - 7FMMDNM5190

The pictures on your website show them with the blue rivets and a double belt loop at the back. Do the jeans you have restocked with have these features? I am interested in waist size 31.

I have previously bought the same jeans from you, but with the copper rivets and the single rear belt loop, even though the website pictures showed different. Whilst these were not the features I wanted, I didn't return them, because I live in the UK and also didn't know whether the blue rivet version would ever be available again, as they do not appear on 7 for all mankind's own website.

To confirm, I am only interested if the specific features (blue rivets, double rear belt loops) can be guaranteed. I'm sure you've probably been asked this question before, as these jeans, with these specific features were the ones worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Quantum of Solace. But they are very difficult to find. The style should be T519C080U, not T519080U.....I think!!

    Response:

Thank you for your email. The vendor code of the jeans we have is
T519080U - so they seem to not be the ones you are looking for. I am
sorry about that. Let me know if there is anything else we can help
    you with!

Thanks David, thats confirmation from you . I think stock levels are low, indicating they are phasing these out.

As of today (11/12) I see Tobi has the Standard in Mercer in 31, 32, 33, 34, 36 and 38. However, if you compare the current pictures to the older ones (where you clearly see the double belt loop in the back), they look lighter.

    OLD:

    NEW:

While they are both labeled the same, the codes are different (7FMMDNM5190) VS (7FMMDNM1908). I don't believe these are style codes a la (T519C080U, T519080U), but rather Tobi's own system (SKU's perhaps).

In any event, seems as though more than just the rivet color and loop configuration have changed.

Thanks Oracabessa, I ordered the last of the 33's which I was give the code 74MMDNM5190. However, I gather although the pic shows the double belt loop, these do not have them. The originals ( which i have) have a totally different number. It seems like the new ones on the site are in fact a third type? The cut is certainly a bit more generous in the leg from Tobi's stats. Agreed, the colour looks a little lighter.

I would say the current ones (7FMMDNM1908) are as close as we're going to get at this point. Considering we're a few years removed from when the originals came out, then I guess we're
lucky there's something available that can be considered a close alternative.

Just a note to say what a great service TOBI provide. Really quick delivery from the States. Also thanks to Bentley for his sizing advice, the 33's were perfect in terms of fit ( apart from the waist). To confirm, these 7 jeans are very close to the originals. No blue button or double belt loops, but the Mercer material is very close in colour. I think they probably are not quite as dark as the originals ( when new), but its slight. The new ones look almost identical to my washed originals. The leg cuffs are slightly wider than the original, 9 inches against 8.5. The fit feels more casual and everyday. The older ones, being very fitted on me looked ok for going out, but not suited for casual use. Looking at TOBI's site the new ones seem to be slightly roomier from mid thigh down, which my findings confirm. Again, it depends on your build, but anyone with more muscular ( or fat!) thights will find the newer style a better fit.
