I am not all that surprised at this news, seeing as how MGM has produced more flops since 2002 then any other studio. Other than Bond, the two Barber shop films, and the two Steve Martin Pink Panther films MGM has been losing money left and right.
While it is sad to see a one great studio to go under, I have been thinking since 2006 MGM's days were numbered. I am hoping that with this going on production on Bond 23 does not get held up for too long.

Bit worrying. Am I right in thinking the last time MGM changed hands we ended up with a 6-year hiatus between Bond films? Then when we finally got one it was GE. :#

I checked latest news on both MI6.co.uk and www.commanderbond.net, MGM is apparently going to be sold, with the buyers name made public on Friday. Judging from what I have read so far, Bond 23's production will not be held up by this sale for time being. After MGM is sold it's anyone's guess what happens to future films and DVD/ Blu Ray releases.
