Barbie Bond GirlS (NOT 40th Anniversary Set)

Apparently, Mattel have been granted a license to continue their 007 line (seven years after the fact ...) with three (Honey, Pussy, and Jinx) new Bond Girl dolls due out next month:

There's next to nothing on the web that I could find regarding these; no idea if they will be continuing on with other 007 femme fatales, edition size, etc. They're a bit costly (pre-sale price is roughly US$ 50 each) but if the 2002 Barbie & Ken set is any indicator and you're patient, you'll be able to find them well below retail. Not sure what this might spell for SideShow or anyone else producing "portrait" dolls; Mattel and SideShow were doing product in parallel before, though the previous Mattel dolls were "generic" and these are specific characters.

I'm sure a good many of you will pooh-pooh these but, still, they are a likely indication that the mass Bond collectibles market is strong plus there's yet another item (after Bond Girl Perfume) to give the wife and/or girlfriend that can secretly cycle back to your collection!

Sounds nice, even though they're not terribly accurate. Nice addition to the collection, although I'm still fairly dissapointed about the Ken and Barbie 007 set still being widely available. Ordering a Barbie, well, o.k.... but let it be a very limited edition to excuse myself :D

Would not pooh-pooh them at all. I have the 2002 "The World Is Not Enough" Barbie and Ken Set. Thanks for sharing the information. I like collecting in areas that are not run of the mill.

That looks like a much more flattering rendition of Jinx than Sideshow's. I wish the bodies were fuller, though, especially Honey's, which I think I'll eventually get. Hopefully the bikini is elastic enough for other female bodies. It's unfortunate that they're using the fashion model bodies, but along those lines at least the sculpts on Honey and Jinx don't look as "Barbie-esque" as Pussy's.

For some reason my Sideshow Bond's have been primping for the occasion...

I really wasn't that impressed with the set I bought in '02. As for the offerings, even .01cent is too much to pay for any JINX memorabilia. Surely there were better choices to be made than one of the worst characters of the franchise?

I thought it was an odd selection myself essentially covering the same ground as Premiere and Sideshow. I'm thinking that in order to get collectors to buy all three, Mattel opted to have at least one more recent Bond Girl in the mix and ignoring that it's Jinx, Halle Berry is easily the most marketable of any actress from the Brosnan years (save Denise Richards, which would looked like a Laura Croft doll).

I was thinking that if nothing else, these would make for a good source of scale accessories to more realistic custom figures. I think the fact that Pussy being clothed is deceiving; I'm certain they're all the same body type. Aside from differences in height from, say, Barbie to Skipper (okay, ya, I know their names ... get over it), I don't think Mattel has but one body type in use for any given product line at a time.

Received my Barbies yesterday; they are bigger and better looking than expected ! The packaging is quite nice too, someone really put some work into this. Slightly overpriced perhaps, but I don't know what the average Barbie will set you back.

Any chance of some pics, please ? Or a link to the items on a website - for the more lazy among us ? ;%
