NOT solved - Hamburg Original T&A order

toutbruntoutbrun Washington, USAPosts: 1,501MI6 Agent
The Copper tie is from Tomorrow Never Dies.

We need 4 buyers to be able to proceed.

I know that it is on Magnoli, but it's never exactly the same thing, and it would be great to compare them to the replica, even maybe improve them.

They charge $180 per tie.

If everything goes well, I might start other T&A ties project. Please PM me for suggestions.

I'm in on the copper tie. Unsure about the Hamburg, I have it already but the small diamonds are purple instead of blue.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

    I don't want to talk in his name, but there would also be another member on the Copper. So we would already be three. That's a good start :) -{

This was my fave T&A tie. Be careful when wearing it though, the weave snags on anything and leaves a pull. Had three of these and managed to pull them all within a weeks wear. Beautifully thick and luxurious though.

A week? That's scary... Well then, maybe I should buy two..

Or we will all wear and pull our ties and come back to this thread in a few months and order again ;)

EDIT: So at the moment, we have :

    1. toutbrun
    2. Holden
    3. ASD007
    4. Monza
    5. ke02eww
    6. cherokee12

I guess we should wait a little bit, so everyone has a change to get involved. Anyway, there is 6-9 weeks of delay.

Let's say that Monday Dec 28 I solve the topic and send the information to T&A, and we can pass out to another tie? Is Dec 28 too soon?

Hey guys. Lurking for some time, finally decided to actively join. I would be very interested in this tie; I understand my being new may make me iffy, so just reply or pm if you want to (and yes, I also understand this may not be much reassuring, but then...).

Good advice Stinger (what a name....)

    I've been taken myself by the following, who ordered shirts then dissappeared without paying, leaving me to suspect the worst;

    Jared Nomak
    ThomasOlyphant (this one even emailed!)
    Switch100

all of the above made fewer than 2 posts...

But Thomas Olyphant even emailed me and offered to paypal (strangely his paypal failed to work at the important moment)

So all I can say is be careful....

    demand payment upfront!...

    I'm still very much in...

    cheers

To avoid this scheme, I was going to ask T&A to collect the payments themselves, with all the names and email I will give them. I hope they will agree...

    I email you, Stinger.

This thread will be solved on Dec 28

ke02eww, I hadn't even thought about the implications of the name... must rewatch the Newman-Redford classic, though.

toutbrun, I just replied to your e-mail. Thanks for being so kind to a newbie!! Hope to be quite active and get in touch with fellow bondphiles.

Hey is it too late to get involved? And does that price include shipping to Canada?

I emailed you and Stinger, you're in, of course.

The price does not include any shipping. I don't know what are their shipping prices, but expect also duties and taxes when it comes to our Canadian borders.

Should be solved within days. The person I contacted moved to another store, so someone else will take care of the order.

Shipping should be something like 15-20$. This is only their approx., please expect more if you're in Europe or something. And don't forget taxes and duties.

Thank you for waiting, I am sorry for the delay.

EDIT : They changed the guy that handled the order. I'll call again, with a mean phone-face.

I am sorry for the delays, but T&A are a pain. This is the 3rd guy I am transfered but I think I should be able to have them do it soon.

Sorry again and I will call again tomorrow morning. I'll let you know.

I just learned that the 2 employees I was assigned were fired. I was given the email of the assistant manager. It should be a lot quicker.

Yikes. Was one of them Kevin Hill? He was a great contact within T&A...
  • toutbruntoutbrun Washington, USAPosts: 1,501MI6 Agent
You're right, I was told Kevin Hill will no longer work there. There was another person fired and the third person was not fired but he's on-call so no wonder why he did not get back.

Will get back with information as soon as I have it.

I really dislike T&A NY sometimes. Their prices are outrageous compared to their UK counterpart, and they recently raised the prices of their entire range of items (ties 150->175, shirts 240->275, etc). And they still can't seem to get their act together to put up a working website where you can order online, even as the UK site turns down US customers from ordering due to regional issues.

It's a shame they're getting rid of people like Kevin Hill, who I always found really helpful and friendly.

I heard a lot of bad comments about them. I looked on some other forum to find a good shirt maker, and everyone that went there wasn't happy. They said they had a very great selection of fabric, but one customer gave them a shirt to copy - T&A did not even have to take his mesures - and when you put one shirt on the other, you can see they were not even able to copy a shirt.

But someone on the forum (I believe it was the Mantis) wrote a very good article about his day at T&A and seemed happy.

And the 4 ties minimum is a little bit painful when you know that not that long ago it was 2 minimum.

But you know, 180 USD ain't that bad when you see the TF ties at 295 USD. I mean, that's expensive. I saw someone here some time ago get a tie from QoS on tiedeals.com for 160 USD. Lucky guy.
