Ah, les anglophones qui écrivent des mots de français!

It's "déjà" in one word. You don't have to put accent marks. So "Deja vu" it is.

    Kevin Hill.

    "Touché". Yeah.

So here's the news. I spoke to the Assistant Manager at NY store and he told me that it was always Kevin who took care of these orders. And he told me that Kevin was dealing with the production people directly. The assistant manager told me that he thought there was a 40 ties minimum order.

    What an idiot.

He told me he would transfer my email to the production people. But then again, I don't have any idea of the time line. They might get back to me within days or I might have to wait weeks before calling again. I'll do my best.

    T&A bastards.

    Is there any news yet?
  • toutbruntoutbrun Washington, USAPosts: 1,501MI6 Agent
Stil transfered to their «production people». I wrote to the NY store to ask the assistant-manager to ask them to get in touch with me and also to give me their number so I can know what's what.

It seems that things are never as easy as they look!

You've clearly hit on the major stumbling block of dealing with T & A: they pretty much despise what they consider to be juvenile James Bond fans.
  • ke02ewwke02eww USPosts: 2,063MI6 Agent
At the risk of upsetting Toutbrun again (sorry bro, the first was a typo, the second - two shay - was an example of juvenile humour!...) I think you could be right....they may indeed feel they are beneath mere riff raff Bond fans these days...

May I make a suggestion. How about trying T&A in London in person?.....there definitely were Bond-sympathisers in there a few years ago.

Asp9mm has had good results with them in the past...

Alternatively Mantis had a good experience with NY T&A not long ago, maybe he could give someone he knows there a call?..

But this was why I had my deja vu feeling....

Let's not give in...I want this tie now!....

    Cheers paul

Someone has the email of someone in T&A in London?

I sent an inquiry to this email address last July and got a response: bespoke@turnbullandasser.co.uk. Might be worth a try.

I don't know if you remember where we left the saga. Well it seems that the ass-manager in New York didn't do s*** and did not respond to the emails I sent him. I might call again at NY but I will send a new email to bespoke@turnbullandasser.co.uk

    Arrrggg!

Good news, kinda. London got back to me, they said they would take care of it and that they were going to ask the production people.

Has anyone ever contacted Sulka about the Goldeneye tank tie?

Sulka went out of business some years ago.

    I JUST received a message from «Bespoke».

    «Dear Mr. Bruno,

Thank you for your most recent email, I have received a detailed response from the tie work room based upon the images you kindly supplied.

Firstly – They have no record of this particular design and presume it was made by Brioni.

Secondly – A selection of ties could be made as close as possible to the reproduced image as printed here.

Thirdly – The individual placing the order would be responsible for its full cost. A non refundable deposit for 50% of the total order would be required prior to commencement.

    Yours sincerely,

    Liam de Vanney.»

So maybe if someone could take pictures of the original T&A tie we could show them that they made it?

Anybody happen to have an original T&A Hamburg tie and a hi-res camera laying around? Mantis?
  • toutbruntoutbrun Washington, USAPosts: 1,501MI6 Agent
We now definitely need a picture of the original tie with the T&A sticker. Is there an identification number on them that I could provide?

    Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email. The red tie was as you say made by us however the brown tie from the James Bond Film was not, it was made by Brioni. The ties are of a similar classic design and if you would like us to make a similar one we can, however it will not be the authentic one from the film.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Yours sincerely,

    Liam de Vanney.
    Turnbull and Asser.

Now I really need original pictures.

Regarding the red tie, I'd say that's the same design, you just have them use copper color instead of red, leave alone the dark blue diamonds and you should have it.

BTW, can we count on you to post photos of your Hamburg tie when you receive it?

    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Iñaki

This sounds suspiciously odd. How would they even know with certainty it was made by Brioni?

Besides, on the Bonham's auction site they list the copper tie as coming from T&A.

To me I'm translating all of this as "Sorry - but no one at T&A bespoke is going to waste their resources looking up Bond info in our recordbooks for you."

I also remember emailing them once about the Q-Boat tie - someone forwarded my email to the bespoke dept and they never bothered to reply.

We have to find a picture of the copper tie made by them.

The Bonham's site has a pic of it when they auctioned it years ago. It looks exactly like Magnoli's tie and the red tie satanama showed, and the listing attributes the tie to T&A.

That's it. Now they cannot say anything. But maybe they'll think it's an Aquascutum. ****.

toutbrun, If the tie does turn out to be aquascutum, then try the site; aquascutumgifts.com, they have a service that will makes ties to order. Worth a shot.
