Is there a similar pair of sunglasses to the TF or OP that are a bit more wallet friendly?
Similar would be this or this. I'm not sure where I saw it, but I think someone got glasses similar to these and used a Dremel tool to cut/sand the lower bar off so it would look even closer to the TF/OP glasses.
Can anybody confirm if the Airmans came in diff shades of blue? Not much info on them now they are discontinued and I have a lead on a few pairs but wondering if the blue was a one off model or diff types of blue lens.
Also what version is more desirable? Polarised or Photochromic?
I have the Fords and I wear them a hell of a lot so I'm after the Airmans as my daily beaters and take more care of my TFs (I hear that the Airmans are superior build and nicer quality anyhow)
They came with a grey(called platinum) polarized lens and I think the other one was called chrome sapphire which was a gradient photochromic, darker at the top. The thing is you can send a pair to Oliver Peoples and they'll put in whatever lens you want. I think there is one called cobalt which is more true blue but they have a good range of lenses. Here's a link to the silver Victory with "vintage indigo photochromic." That might be just what you want. You can have them send you a sample lens to check the color. http://www.oliverpeoples.com/shop/men/victory-55.html
As far as a preference for polarized or photochromic, that's up to you. Polarized lenses cut glare and photochromic get darker when exposed to sunlight. Not really comparable features. My Burn Notice OP Victory glasses have lenses that are polarized and photochromic.
I did finally try on some TF Bond glasses and while they look nice, they don't compare with the OPs for build quality.

Neither is something you can add to a lens but if a lens is designed with both, then yes. Polarization is achieved by placing a filter either between two layers of lens or on the outside of one layer of lens. Light reactive particles actually dispersed in the lens material is how photochromization is done.

What I mean is, does Oliver Peoples commonly offer lenses that have both effects simultaneously, or do they only sell either polarized OR photo chromatic lenses?
My Burn Notice OP Victory glasses have lenses that are polarized and photochromic.
They offer all three, but the colors/styles change over time. Like I said, the cognac lens, as in Burn Notice and The Hangover II, are both photochromic and polarized, but aren't made anymore, although they made up a new batch when the show got popular, so occasionally they will do another run if there is demand. Looking at their site I see one that's both, a chocolate gradient lens, but most are just one or the other. I know many of the photochromic lenses are also gradient, lighter at the bottom than at the top, so keep that in mind also.
Best thing to do is call the OP boutiques and ask the salespeople what you want to know. They'll have much more in stock than what is on the website.
But to remove any doubt that I've apparently given in the last few responses, Yes, lenses are offered that are both polarized and photochromic. B-)

Thanks. Calling sounds like a good option and from what I hear, the boutiques are pretty thorough and helpful.

Simon, it's me who's been contacting you about the Airmans buddy.

Nice to know that you can send them off for new lens to be fitted.
I bought one of each (polarised / photochronic) so will see what I prefer
Can you get both in one lens?
